Dropout list - what's missing?
The project only a few of you know about continues, but here is my list of cast and forged dropouts, and some distinguished stamped dropouts, so far. Anyone see anything I'm missing? I don't consider brand pantos

Campagnolo 1010/1 & vertical stamped dropouts come to mind.
Here are a pair of Ernie Clements dropouts for your consideration. Recently saw a pair without the derailleur hanger on Jack Taylor #1888. http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/...psb07fd460.jpg Chater Lea fashioned a similar looking dropout, as well as the traditional shape. |

I've got a Raleigh here with Raleigh dropouts, not sure if that's a brand dropout or not.

You're missing Graftek dropouts....
Here's a link to pics at CR. It the lower picture. http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA...k_dropouts.htm The one above it is the earlier version where they used Campy 1010's with special sockets welded (or brazed on?) to accept CF rear stay tubing..... Chombi |

Distinguished, anyway. I'll find a photo. What is a brand pantograph? I mean, I know what it is, but how do you distinguish between a pantograph and a factory-commissioned or custom design? Also, I found this on the internet, and have no doubt there is more where that came from: http://mikesimagination.files.wordpr...out2.jpg?w=549 |
Dropouts on my MX Leader are branded Eddy Merckx, but I don't know if EM made them or just rebranded Columbus or Campy...

A.D. Stump vertical, cast. Classicrendezvous site has some images in the USA builder section.
Art also made a front dropout, I have a set of those hiding, a three pc affair, a thin plate with aluminum fittings to increase the width at the axle region. 3Rensho Superend investment cast. short horizontal, I have a loose pair somewhere, they are heavy! Tito cut and milled ends by Keith Andersen. |
