A New Look
A new look for my old Look, to be precise.
I made a few superficial changes to my Look. Namely, changed the handlebar tape, bars (Modolo with shim to proper-sized Cinelli), saddle (white Rolls to black Rolls), bottle cages, bar end plugs, and gave it a good cleaning. I was inspired by viewing some old videos of the '86 tour and noticed many of the La Vie Claire riders with this setup (black saddle, red Benotto, TA cages). I also have a pair of the black Look pedals, but forgot to install them for the photoshoot. C'est la vie! To me, the Benotto tape is like a pair of red high-heeled shoes on a woman: Sexy, but maybe not great for everyday wear. I'll probably change to some type of cork tape eventually, but I'll enjoy oggling her in the meantime. http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...psec3f59d9.jpg http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps70d9830c.jpg http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps500ddec0.jpg http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscbb6722c.jpg http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps48dd4ebf.jpg http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...psc533dc96.jpg For the record, here's a BEFORE pic. It's been about 2 years since I repainted this frame myself. It does have the dreaded brake caliper smack on the downtube, which I did a poor job of touching up. Notwithstanding that area, I think it's holding up pretty well for my first-ever bike project/restoration. (P.s. The saddle is level, but the ground is not.) |
Love it.

I liked it better before. I don't think the black saddle matches too well. But a matching red saddle would be hot.
|
^How dare you!? You're wrong, but that's okay. http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hey to each his own I suppose. But I do love the frame, I've always wanted a Look with that funky paint scheme.
|
That red bar tape should stay Gaucho.
She looks beautiful and intelligent! |

Very nice.
Are those Campy bar plugs I spy? I need two pair! |
^Yes, campy bar plugs. I got mine on ebay a few months back.
That reminds me, the other bit I added was the little plugs at the top of the brake levers. Those little details can really add up. |
Never had one of these bikes, but I've always been partial to this paint scheme.
|
c'est magnifique!
|
I love the new look! (sorry for the pun...):o
Those bars are a big improvement. I love the curve of these and the red Benotto tape is very cool, but not very comfortable IMHO. Nothing at all wrong with the black saddle, as there is enough black in the frame to make it work. Great location for your pics by-the-way! |
Not my cup of tea, but I do see the appeal, looks very clean!
|
A real LOOKer! I know that was pretty bad..
|
Benotto tape yes ! There is nothing that quite matches the shimmer that they have. Fine job there with the changes. Hope you get some ridable weather soon.
|
Very spiffy and sharp looking. Nice detailing.

There is nothing about this bike that isn't perfect...I liked it before, and I think it's even more awesome now.
|
Thanks, Aaron!
Except, there is one thing that's not quite perfect: It's currently sporting a Dura Ace front skewer. I'm on the lookout for a Mavic 500 front skewer if anyone has one to offer. |
wow, awesome paint AND impeccable condition?:thumb:
|
Awesome Possum !!
You're so correct about that tape... stick with the red pedals, too. |
Gorgeous!
|
This looks freakin' amazing! Even the computer looks cool. Well done. The well thought-out details really add up.
|
Love it! Fantastic job.
|
I think it looks great! A real eye-catcher.
PS, I think I know the building where the pics are taken, do you live there? |
