Team Miyata information

Hi all

I have just joined this forum, so if I sound like a noob, I am:)

I have what I believe is a Team Miyata. I have owned the bike since 1988 and I am the second owner. It had been resprayed when I purchasd the bike, so I am unsure of original colour. I want to do a restore, but I am unsure of the year model. The serial number is NM20002 and runs 12 speed DuraAce components. If anyone can help with information whether this is in fact a Team Miyata, year model, original colours and whether decals are available (the frame and forks need to be re-painted), I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Simon

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293756Serial number places it as a 1985 model...please take photos of the bike and we can chime in better on model. DA 12sp would be the OEM parts gruppo for the bike.

'85 model:

It's probably a petty comment, but I don't care for the black stem with the black head tube. Otherwise these were PURDY bikes...a touch heavy, but a nice, firm feeling and not whippy at all.

This is where reasonable minds disagree. I like the black as an accent. In fact, I saved the stem just in case I find a Team Miyata that fits.

As to quality, triple butted and spleened. A rider's bike. This is the stiffest steel bike I've ever experienced. Frankly, better than any Italian frame I've ever ridden. Some call the Team the best C&V production bike ever built. I tend to agree.

This made me think.I am going to Belgium to do the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix this spring. Why not put Dugast Paris Roubaix tires on some DA-hubbed CD4 rimmed wheels I have and use my 87 Team Miyta with barends and an Ultegra 6603 crankset I bought some time ago. My other option is my Focus Mares CX; it would be more stylish with the Miyata and it is a very nice riding frame.

I've wanted a Team Miyata for a long time now. I've got a 914 that I love and want to try out the top of the line someday. Make her shine again, OP. And post pics. :)
