Wood Tandem Stoker Hoods - bad idea?

so i'm thinking of switching up the cockpit of my rando bike from non-aero brake levers to guidonnet levers and tandem stoker hoods, like so:

thing is, I don't think those Dia-Compe stoker hoods look period-correct. So I was thinking of making some out of wood.

something like these:

...but cut down to size and modded to accept bar-mounts.

are there any potential pitfalls of this idea? the only thing I can think of is that wood might transfer more vibrations to my hands than a modern rubber hood.

I like the idea, go for it. I had wood grips on a Raliegh for years and found the worked just fine and were attractive

Perhaps wrap them in leather? That might help a bit.

Slivers! ;) I dunno if wood is any more period-correct or not... are those knobs comfy?
