BMX is where the money is!
Watching this one unfold. I need to gain a little knowledge in BMX parts, this auction is off the hook:

I think it's a lot like baseball card collecting prior to the 1980's. A small number of manufacturers produced quality products in limited quantities and there was a very limited collector market - so no one thought about stashing away parts. Plus BMX bikes were used and abused, so finding like new high-end parts now is extremely tough.

about 2007 I parted up my bmx bike and sold it off bit by bit on ebay.
it was
Torker double top tube chromed, 4130 cr mo
acs z rims
flite cranks
mongoose stainles handlebars and seatpost
kashmax seat
tange seatclamp
LRP pedal cages(very very rare)
mx1000 brakes.
I had a set of pre production flitecranks
6 sided spline, no binder bolt-you had to ride with the allen wrench in your pocket as the center bolt kept loosening.
the crankset fetched around 450, the frame likewise.
when the day was done I cleared 1500 bucks for the lot.
(the money is now in My PUCH with a lot of change to spare)
the frame and crankset went to South East Asia
I have noted that many of my hobby items (rc cars) are heading that direction for serious money.

First off let's start with the original REDLINE Flight cranks. These can be identified by having a six splined spindle and no pinch bolts. These were made available to the public in 1980 and are known as "FLIGHT CRANKS" they are somewhat scarce(compared to other Flight crank versions) and used a threaded (28T) spindle.REDLINE did list the part number for these as 401 but did not advertise them as such in any known advertisements or catalogs.

A lot of people who were kids during that era would now be reasonably aged yet well enough into their careers that they can spend some money on the bikes they wanted as kids.

Yup...I got my CYC frame at the dumps for 5$...sold it for 80$ to a really nerdy collector. For 80$ he was happy...Then I got a pair of trashed wheels but they had bulls eye hubs...smooth bearings...sold em for 40$ paid 5$...
When I sell my vintage BMX parts I sell on craigslist way below e-bay prices. I get the satisfaction of knowing a fat 40 year old with a career, wife and kids can feel 10 years old again

They've actually dropped in price compared to what stuff used to sell for. I was in with the mid school group of BMX labeled groups. Man if I would of kept the stuff I had growing up I'd be sitting pretty nice. I actually just started racing at the end of last year. Picked up an Intense cruiser last fall and my 5yr old races.
