I think I change my vote to this:

White Fizik stuff

grey cable housing and some tan wall tires. Everyone has different taste, so do whatever feels right to you. Nice bike and color.

I ran the white Fizik Microtex for awhile last year on my Raleigh, and wound up not liking it. I ride without gloves most of the time, and found it to be a bit slippery. It did stay clean though Stuff was a ***** to wrap/stretch around bends also.

Back to Cinelli cork for me.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! I talked to my husband last night, showed him the examples, and he said he like the red setup best. He was worried about the white accents showing dirt. So we have the Shimano A530 pedals coming to us, Jagwire cables in red, red bar tape, and these tires:

https://www.ebikestop.com/panaracer_t...red-TR2284.php

I told him he's going to look like Superman.

I'll be sure to post pictures when we get everything put together. Thanks again.

What kind of bike do we have here? I like.

P.S. Sorry for the thread jack.

What an awesome idea! When it comes time to replace the cable housing, go with yellow!

Weird, I managed to pull of a pretty decent looking wrap job with microtex on my second ever wrapping. Maybe it was luck.

If it wasn't for the red PDG logo, that bike would be sweet with an orange saddle and tape.

I agree, but orange and blue combinations are avoided in Wompus household, anyway.

Oh, I got a good wrap out of it. It just wasn't as easy as the Cinelli or BikeRibbon or such. Had to pull quite hard...

Update! Fitted, kitted, and ready to ride:

My husband got fitted at Orange Cycle. He needed a shorter quill stem. New tires, tubes, cables, pedals, and a temporary seat until his B17 Imperial arrives- the assometer at the shop says he needs a 155mm width.

We went out for a 25 mile ride on the West Orange Trail on Saturday:

It was windy and cold (for Floridians) but we had a great time. We're talking about proper form and technique now, and he has a real understanding of what a well-fitted road bike is capable of. He's fast, too. We're talking about training for the cross-Florida ride next year. Good times! Thanks for all the help everyone!

Thanks, we plan to. We're a little saddle-sore today, but we'd like to start riding several times a week. Maybe join a group ride on a weekend every once in a while.

I like the red tape. I have an yellow 86 paramount that currently has black bar tape. I'm due for new tape, but not sure which color...

Post a picture. I'm sure everyone will chime in with an opinion. That's the great thing about this place- you can have about a dozen different ideas thrown at you with the click of a button.

Well done and very snazzy! The Brooks will be the perfect final addition. It's hard to capture the beauty of the speckled/splattered paint affect, but you hit a home run.

I'm so looking forward to being on the FL panhandle next week. I need shorts, sun and sweat so badly! The picture of your husband makes me so I can't wait!

Where's the cape and S on his shirt?

Doesn't the saying go, a happy husband, a happy life? Nicely done bike, he's obviously very happy. Congrats and enjoy!

There was sun and shorts, but not much sweating- the wind took care of that. Of course, us Southerners have a skewed perspective when it comes to weather. Right before our ride I was talking to my neighbor in the front yard. He said, "Man, it's cold. I better go put on some shoes." Anything requiring socks and long sleeves in the sun is considered cold down here.

Hope you enjoy your trip, Pastor. And remember us in your prayers come August when the weather tables are turned.

Lol. He'd decline the cape- he's already made a couple of weight-weenie/roadie comments, and this was his first ride! I think being an engineer aggravates the techie tendency. I just tease him to keep him in line.

My 1992 Paramount OS. Red and black!

I bought frame "new" from a LBS several years ago. They had it on display since 1992. This was one of the last "Schwinn Built" Paramounts made with OS True Temper tubing.

Fine riding and handling bike.
