Bianchi: model? year?

5 Attachment(s)
Hello,

perhaps one of the fantastic experts in this forum can help me.
I really would love to know, which model and production year my Bianchi frame is.
I am not sure, if the paintwork is original. As you can see on one of the photos the saddle brace tops are chrome underneath the paint.
Decals are also missing.
The serial number says 2.9 (does that mean february of 1979?)and 157

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Hello Dobrowsky, welcome to the forums. My first question is what country is this bike in? Now the questions get harder.

Do you know the BB threading? What brand are the dropouts and forkends?

I agree it seems to be repaint, the decal style doesn't really match the recessed brakes and under the BB cable routing, however, it is possible just the decals were replaced. What are the componenes?

The frame detail of Bianchi being tyoed out on the stay caps, which is often filed in to match the decals, make the frame look like a '86-87 model. The B on the fork is somewhat consistant with an 86/7 model but may make it lowerend model manufactured in the Orient.

The frame looks like an upper end Italian from '79-'80 +/- to me. I do not think those are really recessed brake mounts, just ones that have been drilled to take a recessed nut.

The paint chip on the seat-stay cap looks like it is showing chrome underneath? If so It would indicate a top model. I think it is that with a re-spray.

Of course more pics would be nice, but I'll go with that from what I can see.

Hey Otis Thanks a bunch! I was kind of stumped by the chromed stay caps reference. I went back and looked and yes the stay caps and crown do match up to something like a early '80 Super Corse or Super Leggera. It still would have recessed brakes though.

Whenever you go about selling it, let me know - It looks to be in my size...

Thank you for the feedback.

The bike is in Austria.

I don't know the brand of the dropouts. forkends are campagnolo.

Yes, the seat-stay cap shows chrome underneath the paint as you can see on the last photo.

The components are all not original. I got the frame without any components and added campagnolo components from the 80ies.

What pics would be helpful?

The size of the bike is 53, but I don't want to sell it.
