It's Lee Marvin's prosthetic nose from Cat Ballou.

I will second Jeff Wills total WAG I see a couple of cable guides but my best WAG is this is not a bike. Looks decent silver almost never used in bikes so this one is a mystery.

Clarabelle 02-15-13 01:16 AM

How big is it? Hard to identify without scale.

dddd 02-15-13 01:21 AM

Is it a casting, or made from sheet or strip?

...and yeah, how big?

I doubt it's for bikes.

Baytree 02-15-13 01:24 AM

Looks like one of those fancy napkin rings.

seely 02-15-13 01:30 AM

Please place it next to a banana for scale.

ftwelder 02-15-13 03:29 AM

No.

ftwelder 02-15-13 03:31 AM

it take two round things that are next to each other and puts them on top of each other and holds them. Do you have the other one?

kidding.

rootboy 02-15-13 05:12 AM

not sure, but it looks nicely made.

RobbieTunes 02-15-13 05:32 AM

Klingon engagement ring.

oldroads 02-15-13 05:36 AM

need to see it next to a coin for scale

What are you from Canada or something? Lee Marvin was Clint's sometimes sidekick in the besketty westerns back in the '60s/70s. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001511/

I was thinking a Masonic ring.

I agree scale is needed as well as more info on where it was found. A box of stuff from an old bike shop? Did they sell/service Mopeds? I think it may be a clip to secure a cable of some kind, clutch or throttle probably, to its lever.

RubberLegs 02-15-13 07:43 AM

From Canada....could be part of a Snowmobile! From the wood grain, I am guessing about 3/4" long or 1.5cm or so, and it looks like some sort of cable connector thingie...Clutch, brake, throttle?!?

I think you're thinking of Lee Van Cleef. Marvin and Eastwood were only in one movie together AFAIK, and that was Paint Your Wagon.

That one is easy to forget.
