Bike lust is taking over. The seller want $429 Shipped. Should I take the plunge? Any info would be appreciated! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8375/8...45b81b8d_c.jpg Untitled by KvltBryce, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8...d0ca13c5_c.jpg 2 by KvltBryce, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8531/8...05ee4956_c.jpg 4 by KvltBryce, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8384/8...81165cd3_c.jpg 5 by KvltBryce, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8528/8...c49371bd_c.jpg 7 by KvltBryce, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8248/8...9623b30a_c.jpg 8 by KvltBryce, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8514/8...e9b6f996_c.jpg 9 by KvltBryce, on Flickr *Just would like info and opinions, not an appraisal. |
I love it, but I could never get my wife to go for that.

I can't tell you much about it, but if I had that offer I would go for it! Super cool bike looks quite old, nice lugs, drop bars (questionable originality?), I'm sure someone here can tell you more about it. My opinion? What's not to love about that!
Edit: I misread the price, that does seem a bit much.... still cool though. |
It looks like any other British roadster type bike to me. Maybe Im wrong and its something special, but I don't see it.
|
It would fit right in with the green bike thread ! It looks like a good project, does it fit you ?

Buy this one and slap some drops on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1950-60-DUSI...-/111009483302

I like it but it needs a lot of work. I would be hard pressed to go the asking price. The bike is technically worth the price it's close to a 100 years old and complete basically functionaly. Yet I could see one sending $1000+ to get it restored and in good working order. I love the front bush pad brake you almost never see these most where upgraded changed back in the 30-50's.

Having done the same thing with the same type of bike....more than once, I'll offer up an opinion. This is my folly from a few years ago. It's been fun to ride around the block, my boys have enjoyed it and I've collected some period parts to hang on it at some point. In the end is just an old Roadster.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=302741 I'd say go for it if it makes you happy. Restored or left as is, you'll be upside down if you try to resell it so the motivation has to be for the love of the bike. I have a soft spot of the roadster turned racer. Someone had fun with it, I see no reason for you not to have some fun too. This is not an appraisal but the price is favoring the selling on this one but it is really cool....to me anyway. |
Thanks all, for the advice. I do fancy the lugs and look of the "roadster turned racer" as Velognome put it.
Maybe the time isn't right, (1 frameset waiting and 1 MTB almost finished.) but a bike of this style is definitely the next on my list. I guess I'll save the pictures for inspiriation. :twitchy: |

I didn't get that Roadster, only because I found something that I like a bit better! You all will see it soon! N+1 Plauge. |
