Beginners guide

Hallo everyone!
I have bought recently nice bike from '30. Frame is pretty nice, but wheels and fenders have some rusty parts, also chromes are not perfect. I have read some posts and blogs about restoration and have build such system:
- WD-40 + steel wool 000 for cleaning everything except painting
- Brasso or similar for chrome polishing
- something line Car Scratch Doctor for paint preparation
- Car Wax for metal protect and polishing

but I am still not sure about such things:
- can I use wax on clear metal?
- can I use it on metal which were oiled before (wd-40 cleaning) or should I clean it?
- the same problem with brasso after wd-40
- and of course - do you see a better solution or mistakes?
I do not want to repaint.
Thanks for your help.

i use naval jelly rust remover on all the little bits -- bolts, nuts, washers, clips, skewers, etc. he bits are submerged in the jelly for five minutes, retrieved and washed/scrubbed, and resubmerged if necessary. you can give a frame a similar acid bath diluted in water, and bf threads cover this topic. use auto sandpaper in progressively finer grades on components. you also might want to post some pics here to raise interest in your project. good luck!

Definitely need pics or you will get ignored, just the way it is around here. Sounds like an interesting bike

What a neat old bike, to say the least. I'm interested to know the brand of the bike, as I thought it might be a Peugeot, but it appears to be something else. I'm also curious about the crankset since I was expecting cotters but there are none. Spill man! ;)

It is not a Peugeot. It is old Czech Republic brand (middle Europe), closed after 2ww. Name is writen on cranck - "ogar". If I am right, in translation it mean - hound.
