Interesting observations on wheel weight.

As most know vintage mountain bikes with road tires make great city bikes. I have a 1991 Trek 930, my wife rides 1989 Haro Impulse (with an extreme lime green fade to day glow yellow paint) and our spare bike is a 1990 GT Outpost. The Haro and Trek wear WTB Slicks in 26 X 1.85 while the GT has Forte Metro Ks in 26 X 1.25. Before somebody yells foul yes the Forte is about 190 grams lighter. All had std weight tubes, no HD or Slime type tubes.

I weighed the front wheels complete with with skewers. All wheels were factory stock.

Trek 930. 1820 grams
Haro impulse. 1940 grams
GT Outpost. 1420 grams

I bought the Forte Metro Ks because they were very reasonably priced and to save the brand new set of Velociraptors that were on it for my MTB, but have been pleasantly surprised at how good they are on the road.
