I wouldn't want a respray if I was in the market to spend $6k

especially that color. Metal flake? I wouldn't push her out of bed, but ...

I like it but....for 6K...I'd rather buy a BMW R/50 or something else.

A respray on a rare and well known make is filled with problems and later questions. It can be done, and there can be very legitimate reasons for it to be done, but when it is time to resell... it will be judged. and judged harshly. The paint metallic photographs too coarse for a Cinelli. The detail work at the ends is well done, the film thickness at the seat lug appears too thick to me when I look an my road bike with original paint and I am not sure Cinelli handled the paint termination of paint at the fork ends this way, but that style is attractive.

Missing of the BB port screw and seatpost binder bolt for the asking price is pretty aggressive.

I have seen a few older Cinelli track bikes up close, silver, yellow, chrome and Black. If I was going to sell off a post paint job I bike I would have selected a silver, a first thought Cinelli color.
Or, maybe the respray was the let down, and the owner wants it gone. I have felt that way before, but I just boxed it up and kept it to review later. I still might get that frame set redone again.

As long as we're picking nits, the down tube decal is way too close to the bb (compared to mine, anyway). Still, these don't come around often.

If I bought it, I'd get it repainted. I don't buy the seller's claim that it is "correct".

So the repaint (assuming no damage that hides below the current paint) plus getting period-correct parts, you are looking at another $2,000-3,000. It's going to get really spendy really quick.

I was thinking "a correct respray would not cost that much..." but when you factor in components, Pre Record hubs, (and maybe even 110 spacing) the correct Campagnolo cranks, pedals, headset, seatpost, Cinelli steel bar and stem with the badge... $3,000 is quite possible, finding a period donor Frejus or other Italian track iron might be the best route.... pretty significant dollars when one is done.

But it's still a repaint in the end a 10K at that!. I think it the asking price would be justifiable in it's original paint; scuffs dings and all.....I'd expect a frame of that vintage to be scuffed up, patina'd....A like new restoration makes me think there has been some work done under the paint, right or wrong, that's my impression.

Very well could be, and that fact that it's left up to our minds to wonder really squelches the appeal of the frame. That, and that huge flake they used in the paint. Pearl copper would have been nice.

Apparently the Rose metallic was Cino's favorite color. But that paint is a little metalflaky. Still something I'd love to have.

As digital capture and presentation on a monitor is always quite variable, while the color may be correct, the coarseness of the metallic is way off. I have seen a number of "rose" Cinellis, and none looked like that.
A number of painters don't "see" this or don't care, or the client is set on DuPont Imron a paint system that does not use fine metallic.

There was a guy in the local club who had one, and he always got chided for having a pink bike. With admiration actually, they were rare and not cheap in the mid 70's.

The paint on this Pista is not rose and it is not supposed to be, it is copper, a rare colour for a Cinelli but an original choice for sure. I have seen one in person and the flake size of this one looks accurate.

I'm curios, if this frame was in rough original paint, oxidized, scratched and chips; no dings, dents or repairs, what would you think would be a fair market price?

Still less than the asking in my opinion. But, if you don't ask you won't get. I have a hard time arriving at a price for this frame set where I would be interested. Probably a size thing.

I'm with you on this one, original patina with some provenance and $$$. Re-finish doesn't ring my bell.

Beat down but not needing structural repair, I think $1,500-$2,000 would be doable. Excellent original finish, I think $5,000-$6,000 would not be outrageous.

Needs a Cinelli headset to really make it pop. First gen Record would be nice too.
