It was a long time....as you can tell, our cats are not indoor cats, but they don't get left out all the time either. They have their bed times (well, with a cat isn't that 22 out of 24 hours anyway?), so they are expected in at night.

Rootboy: whatmo was also laid to rest under a tree in the back of our yard....with a small memorial stone. Nothing written on it because no matter how smart we think cats are they can't read....

Yeah man, it's almost a nightly event at our home, red, green & now purple get our cats going. Lil Kris will start it, she jumps up and starts tapping my arm with her paw when I am sitting in my chair then runs about 4 feet sits and stares until I start shining it. I also have some old chandelier crystals hanging in our windows to get the disco ball effect going during sunny days that they also like.

No pics, sadly, but Carl is currently helping (read supervising) with the interior painting in the house we are doing. Those ladder shots were when we first started the painting last week. He will saunter over and sit with one of us while we paint, occasionally emitting a meow to comment on our errors and lapses, in his humble opinion, then stretching and yawning. He is a world class saunterer, to quote the comic strip Arlo and Janis (I am a Ludwig fan, obviously,) "If one didn't saunter when one could saunter one would never saunter" as Arlo sauntered along with Ludwig in a strip.

Anybody have a cat or cats that like dogs, we have a few that for some reason just love our dog. Starting with our black lab Chyna ( who we lost in 08 ) some of the black cats we have really like to sleep & play with the dog, Squirrel who for some reason doesn't care to much for the other cats ( or people for that matter) just loved to sleep with Chyna every chance she could, made the dog nervous as hell as we had a cat that would be nice to her until she put her head down then would take her face off. At first we thought because she was big & black like their mother cat was to them as kittens or because they used to sit & watch her when we would take her out in the yard on her leash when they were young, but then we got Lacey & she still wants to be with her ( although Lacey seems to like Mr Tail better).
Mr Tail & Snuffy both love my brain damaged dog Lacey & Mr Tail will play hardcore with her, he will jump up on the coffee table to be at her level as to get a better chance to bite her on the head when she starts playing to rough with him.

I don't know where the pictures are, but our cat Monster used to climb the step ladder every time I had it out also, he would bug the crap out of me to set it up if he saw you with it, & our cat Stripe loves to run up the pull down stairs to the attic, it's pretty bad when someone has to stand guard every time you go in the attic.

I noticed that too. And, thankfully, very few cat haters. I don't hold it against them. Much. Until they start espousing violence toward cats. That, I despise. One of my best, life long friends hates cats. Never bothered me other than he really didn't have any good justification for it when asked. To editorialize just a bit, I think it has something to do with a certain machismo attitude built in to some men. And women too. Liking cats, in some people's minds, is too, em... too "soft". Real men don't express their feelings when it comes to liking little fuzzy things. That sort of thing. But I've known people who hate cats because they kill wildlife. That's cool. Cats do, if left to their nature instincts, outdoors, hunt and kill. One of mine has despite that I try to keep her inside at least 97% of the time. It's just their nature and one of the reasons I like cats is that they have not evolved away from their natural instincts as much as dogs have. I still see in cats a touch of the wild, and I like having that little bit of the wild around me. And, as much as I think a cat's preferred habitat is outside, I keep mine in most of the time to help protect the bird population. But the main reason I like them is that I think they are one of the most beautiful forms in nature. Any cat.

I still very much miss my all black coated American Blue named "Kat" from 30 years ago. Sometimes I turn around and think I still see him.

My wife and I inherited him from friends because he had eaten most of their menagerie, and their neighbors were about to riot for his beating up the 'hoods males and knocking up the females. But he was a true loving friend and fellow mammal. He regarded the house as his and insisted that guests pay their respects. And they did — or else! He took an immediate and mutual liking to Chief Dan George (the Canadian actor) who came for breakfast one morning. If it was raining out the front door, he'd sometimes want to see how it was out the back door. My wife and I used to wonder how he was getting forbidden chicken bones out of the bottom of the garbage pail where we deliberately packed them. Well, my missus woke up one night and spied on him. He was unpacking the garbage, and then repacking it in the same order as it came out! He gave himself away by leaving crumbs of marrow on the linoleum.

American Blues are short hairs that have a lot Burmese bred into them. They are noted for being affectionate and intelligent.

Some folks consider them vermin. I find them endlessly fascinating.
