Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Someone left these two lovely cats behind the neighbor's house a few weeks ago complete with a crate and a small amount of food... between us and the guys across the street they are not lacking for food or love and it looks like we will be re-homing them with a friend.
"Honey" is a big boy and as sweet as the name we gave him... he probably curbs out at close to 15 pounds, has eyes as green as the grass, and has a purr that makes the ground shake.
.jpg)
"Bea" is his girl and she too is really sweet but a little younger and her favourite place is in your lap.
.JPG)
They spend their days doing what cats do best and get to sleep indoors as our neighbour has taken quite a liking to them... his cats are 2500 miles away in Ontario and does not mind the furry bed mates.
They act more like dogs and will come when called, follow you everywhere, and like everyone including the dog... if our cat was not so anti-social and we did not have a house full of birds we would have considered keeping them ourselves.
Both have been fixed and appear to be in very good health... the shelters are overflowing with cats and think their owners must have been desperate to have abandoned them.

Reviving this old thread, probably to the consternation of some, on the occasion of a cat thread over on the Classic Rendezvous list, which actually caused one member to "quit" the list. An excellent example of why I like this place much more. I enjoy learning on the CR list, but it can be a little stuffy sometimes.

I don't know the reason for the snark, but I have found that it goes away fastest when ignored than when it is combatted.
Here is a video of my cat Booger (RIP) when he still had four legs. I brought him a cicada as a gift. He played with it and then ate it. Crunch, crunch, yum, yum.

That's basically the reason I left CR. It's too stuffy for my taste. I haven't looked back. Plus, I love indexed shifting.
The nice thing about the rules here is that the rules are pretty nonexistent, and that's what cats like.

My daughter just moved back to Wisconsin from Michigan. She and her cats are staying with us until she finds an apartment. Here's Treble:

Alto's been too shy for me to get a decent picture.

Can't remember if I have posted this before.
Our son Will was about five years old in this pic.
He's now 15 and 6'4"!
Orbit the cat has put on some poundage over the years, but is still going strong.

Kit Carson knocked completely out. He was having a skin issue that was making him miserable, and he seems to be doing much better. He didn't so much as open an eye.,,,,BD

Thanks for the bump Rootboy
Our shop cat "Scruffy" with his pal "Woody" in the summer of 2010. Scruffy is still going good.
Woody was pretty cool, came to us in a bad late summer drought of 2010, we first saw him as he was drinking from the wall-exit drain pipe for the dehumidifier and he was not really afraid of us and we began to feed him corn and we put out a water bowl. He lived under the 40' shipping containers we have for storage. That fall he burrowed into the hillside just outside the fence to hibernate.
He came out again in late March 2011 and was very thin and covered in mud. But he immediately started the same routine with us feeding him corn and the water dish and he gained weight and was looking very good within a few days. Everything seemed to be back to normal with the groundhog living here. Then in late April, I found him dead in the road one morning, and I was really bummed out for a while. 27 years here and we never had a Groundhog hanging around with us...

Alto, my daughter's other cat. This one has serious trust issues: she was a rescue cat my daughter fished out of the Huron River as a kitten and nursed back to health. I think the move to Wisconsin was traumatic for her; she's hiding under the couch here:

Oh man. What a beauty.
Yes indeed. I think cats are very sensitive creatures, and easily traumatized. Some handle it better than others though.
Our adopted shelter cat pictured above must have had something bad happen to her when she was young. A rough childhood, as it were. We've had her six years and she is still a bit skittish and aloof. But starting to relax more and more. Some woman adopter her and actually returned her, saying she was "sketchy". When I heard that story, I couldn't believe it. I told the shelter volunteer "we'll take her."
Let's hope Alto learns to trust and be comfortable. I'm sure she will when things settle down.
I wanted an all black cat when we adopted Minky but, one can't be too choosy. They're all beautiful in my world.

Here's a kitten picture from about a year ago, shortly after she was rescued:
