I managed to train my cat Latte to put her live mice into this storage bin. She will play with them for a while, sometimes leave them for a day or two, then they become a late night snack.

Her idea was that she could put them in her litter box, but they kept escaping. So I now have a mostly escape proof bin for her.

One of the neighbors has been catching kittens and giving them to me to foster. The last litter, I only got one very cute female kitten... And I decided to keep her.

Latte caught the mouse, and I heard her playing with it. So I sent Caffč over to check it out.

Which one? Because we've got six:

Tootie had just about grown into an adult beauty around the time when we got her in March 2020:




And this is Tootie a year later, just last week:




Winter, a known sex offender, is one of seven Tootie had dropped in her very first litter in June, when she was barely a year old:



Unfortunately, one of that litter did not survive. The remaining five all went to new forever homes.

Mars and Snickers are from Tootie's second, five-strong litter in November. A nice, polite, industrious little fellow, Mars (right) has so far been keeping his hands to himself, not yet following the debauched example set by his older brother; Snickers (left) is a sweet, perpetually startled little kitty with a knack for the finer things in life who loves to play hide-and-seek with her granddaddy:








She also is almost a spitting image of her mom:



Next, Spotty, the half-brother of the other three and Tootie's stepson, is a naughty little boy with two very bad habits, neither of which are printable:



And last but not least, Cinnamon was just two months old when she was abandoned on our doorstep in October. She's now daddy's little girl:

More than a year into covid the cat has not helped much more than a year ago, other than deleting emails, by running over the keyboard to sit on the warm lap top, blocking the screen and looking for a chin rub

Oh, they're good for more than that. They crap in your tool box, ee on top of the kitchen stove (or the nearest, nicest available couch) when they're in heat, steal - and then lose - your tools, knock your phone over and break the display, shut down and then restart your laptop in the same keyboard-slump session, pull the power cable out of the wall socket, chew clean through charging cables, bite the ear buds clean off of 3.5mm mobile headphones, and knock over every cup, basket, abd container to see if there's anything worth stealing. Underneath every one of our couches, closets, beds and fridges are treasure troves of stuff that has gone missing that we set a weekly schedule to retrieve.

And yet, we just can't bear to imagine our household with them.

Yesterday Sacha and I visited the beach:



She passed away at my side early this morning. I can't believe how much my heart hurts right now.
