San Diego velodrome swap meet - April 7, 2013

Looks like the San Diego spring velo swap meet is coming up:

https://sdvelodrome.com/swap-meet/

Anybody going? Buying? Selling?

If so, maybe we could have a C&V meet up for a social ride around town after, and/or grab a beer or two.

I'll be there for certain. I won't bring my bike though - no room for that AND all the gear I'm expecting to purchase.

Went last year. Purchased a small amount. I was fortunate and got in with a seller I knew, at the cost of babysitting his space for a spell.
The buyer line to get in was formidable with about 45 minutes before the gates opened. I am happy I did not have to endure it.
There may not be so much luck for me this year.

No beer, too much driving required.

I've penciled in the date. It's a 70 mile drive each way, hoping to rideshare with another C&Ver.

I was in the buyer line last year. Got there 45 min early, but not early enough to beat the line. Still found some good deals though.

There's one guy that always a selection of interesting C&V parts and paraphernalia. In november he was selling a cool Nobilette tandem and some other bikes:

Not my photo, but that framed Schwalbe print is hanging in my living room right now.

Also picked up some diy Campy t-shirts that some people had silk screened. Nice quality shirts, hopefully they have some more in different designs this time.

Edit: And yep, I'm definitely up for a ride around town and a beer after the swap meet. There are even some great craft beer bars in town that offer discounts if you ride your bike there (Blind Lady Ale House, Tiger!Tiger!, Toronado).

We're probably driving over to the velodrome for the swapmeet in case I buy a wheelset or anything larger, but I live close so I can ride back over to meet up after.

I need to decide tonight if I am going to the swap tomorrow morning. I would like to hear from others that have been there in past years: how much classic/vintage gear (mid 1980's and earlier) is featured? It would be a significant drive, so I would like to save myself the time if this swap is predominantly shops and new equipment vendors.

Thanks

I would say that it's predominantly shops and new equipment vendors, but there are a few people that sell some vintage stuff. You can get some good scores sometimes, but if you're looking for a mainly C&V oriented bike swap, you'll probably be disappointed.

I'll have a gray Velo Cult t-shirt on tomorrow, if you see me, feel free to say hi. If anybody wants to meet up for a ride or a beer or two after the swap, you can also pm me to swap text/cell numbers.

I've got to do family stuff tomorrow, or I'd be there. I see why you beat me to those Schwinns in Dulzura - you're on top of this stuff!

Hey, all. I'm planning to be there, and I'd be happy to meet up to ride or grab a beer after. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

Pretty weak selection today.

We ended up buying a mystery frame (no fork, campagnolo dropouts, looks like it's had some rack and downtube shifter braze-ons added before a pretty nice repaint) on a whim even though I really don't need it or another project right now. I'll probably post some pictures of it soon for help identifying it.

Other than that, I didn't see much that I was interested in. I did end up buying a 1985 Rockhopper off craigslist after the swap meet though.

Anybody get any good scores?

ultegra 6500 hubset = $20.
NOS mavic ma2 32h 700c x 2 = $40 total.
NOS saturne/saturae ht-s20 36h 700c x 2 = $20 total. (doh, these are tubular so i'll be flipping)

so, a few sweet finds, but yea totally weak selection today.

I do not feel so bad then, as there was too much happening at home to give the swap a big chunk of the day.
