How many models of Brooks Pro are available now?
I have two "modern" Brooks Professionals in my possession, and though similar in appearance one is WAY more narrow than the other. The Honey model is shaped a lot like a Swift, with a wide back tapering quickly to a thin nose portion. The black is a more gradual taper, ending in a nose the same width as the Honey. Both have large hammered rivets. The black has copper rails, and the honey has chrome. Did they change the profile in the last few years? ,,,,BD

Here's a side by side comparison? The beginning angle of the taper is not even the same, and the black one is 1/2" longer than the honey. Neither saddle has been adjusted.,,,,BD

Yes I know the saddle is crooked on the orange SS, hehe.,,,,BD

There's a team Pro and Pro Classic with smaller steel rivets. My laced white Pro looks like the honey Pro. Based on the picture, the black saddle isn't that much longer than the beige. It appears that the black saddle has formed to the rider's countour.

Really? This isn't Foo dude?,,,,BD

The honey one isn't a Team Pro S womens model, is it?

I agree about the different shapes. My 2011 Vans Professional is different from my 2009 Blue Professional.

"Everyone leaves microbes and what not?" :thumb:
"Whatdaya mean 'what was he wearing?' he was wearing his god damned jammies. Nobody sleeps naked in this household." huh? saddles? uh... no help, sorry. But I agree that black one's shape looks more like the older ones to me. |
Some people really obsess about suspended leather saddles, but I'm fine with the fact that they are an item more-or-less handmade from a natural material and I tolerate and even expect a degree of variance. I don't find it hard to believe that they are changed slightly as the years progress and that Brooks sees not reason to put a press release when they buy a new press or mold or whatever.
If you were to pull the skirts in a bit on the black saddle would it not more closely resemble the shape of the honey one?

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps4f1d3642.jpg I bought mine new in February 2012 What year(s) are your saddles and did you buy them new? I must have good luck with Brooks saddles. I've bought 10 or so, new and used, and have never had a problem with them. |
