Another "Is this fork bent?" thread
So yeah, is this thread bent?
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/raleigh-frame...TDg~~60_57.JPG No full pictures of the fork, but just something about it looks off to me. Could be the angle or the siding in the picture behind it, not really sure. From this auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251257906647...84.m1438.l2649 |
No pics of the front dropouts either...........
I mean I could ask for more pictures if I wanted. Held a piece of paper up to the screen and the lines more or less matched, so it could be the bend I'm seeing is just optical illusion.
In my experience it's almost impossible to tell if a fork is bent from pictures alone. But FWIW it looks straight to me.
And, yes, this thread is bent. |
It looks okay to me, but where shipping is so expensive it becomes a bit of a gamble, which makes me uncomfortable. I'd definitely ask for more photos.
Yeah, I've been thinking more and more that for some reason I saw too many distracting lines and thought it was bend but it's looking straiter too me now that I've actually put a straight edge up to the screen to block out other lines. I had been thinking about it, but that 56 cm top tube probably is too short for me, so I doubt I'll waste the seller's time with a pic request unless I change my mind that I could make it work with a longer stem (currently have a 56 cm top tube and keep swapping back and forth between 12, 13, and 14 cm threadless stems because none feels quite right for various reasons).

Looks OK to me....
62x56.. wow
Yeah, I thought my 63x59 Super Course was a weird size. I could definitely have used an extra cm or two on the top tube and gone back to the original (shorter) stem.
Anybody recognize that frame? The only markings I can find on it other than Raleigh are where it says Campagnolo on the top tube where usually, you'd see a model name.

Edit: Yes, that's it. There was also a Triumph branded one. I think the model name is usually found where Campagnolo is on the eBay example. |
