Nelli's grail bike complete ___Francesco Moser/Campagnolo Junior = White Elephant
This build started last year, here is the link..
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...t=moser+junior
Then I had 3 juniors at once, 2 were being built the same time...
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...t=twins+junior
Masini Migani got a good new home and F Moser awaited for parts and time to complete.
He is a true white elephant as his value far exceeds a 700c sized bike, Super rare.
WEIGHT with pedals 8.88kgs=19.6lbs
HERE HE IS!!!!
Find the one (maybe 2 if your anal)campagnolo components that is missing, I have it in the house but misplaced it!
The levers are Mafac Juniors, Campagnolo never made them so they dont count.
grand sport 150mm crankset(if you check the value of them you will be shocked!)

I never figured out the G.P.S. on the forged drops
I acquired a bag of new 1.8mm nipples and stripped, polished and rebuilt the 28 spoke wheelset,
most of the old nipples were corroded and cracket...there is somethign to learn here!
it looks fantastic with new nipples

Michael: I'm interested in what you are proactively doing to not fall of the wagon again. I'm worried because I've started to look at craigslist again. . . . Oh yeah I almost forgot, nice bike.

Nice work! You're such a good dad. Too bad you can't get hoods for those MAFACs.

I got him home Friday evening,
Nelli insisted on taking it for a spin, everything was spot on, only a handlebar adjustment and seat.
Nelli is now 9 years old, and more muscle then last year...
straps and clips will be added as soon as we get stateside, yes those are real junior shoes!

Yeah, she does look pro. She's a lucky girl. I'll bet she'll be super fast when she's bigger. And it's nice to see so much father-daughter bonding. I have two daughters and no sons, so it's important to me. I rode with my girls but not enough. And now they're gone. Enjoy your time with her. When you look back, it will seem so short.

that's all my guesses.
I fear she will outgrow that bike pretty soon: either stop feeding her or feed her a lot more...then you can start shopping for the full-size (or 650C) replacement!

Wow! - Nelli has a grail bike that would be the envy of 99% of the guys here. (If it were just a tad larger )
- I hope dad is mapping out plans now for her next grail bike - That's going to be a hard act to follow!

....look on the front of the bike!
Im also quite aware she will outgrow this bike, I think this may be her last year on it.
This White elephant I have an idea to Lease to forumites for a year...so some other child can enjoy this ride also. its a pity to just store it....
I have not started looking, but last december we tried!
here she is trying a 47cm alloy Canondale...A bit too big-its only 300 bucks in baltimore

building a bike for a loved one is far more rewarding, you gain a cycling partner..
I have 2 53cm (700c) bikes im building for the future....
when Nelli is old enough she will be riding an Austro Daimler Superleicht with smoked chrome finish.
Also building a AD 531 mixte
both full Campy

Bike looks awesome, Nelli's looking happy as a clam on it - she sure loves that big ring, doesn't she? Fit looks dead-on; I think it's way cool that she's not only already well into riding a road bike but is learning on a vintage one with downtube shifters and everything.
How many kids these days are likely to have that kind of attitude? This is awesome in so many ways.
Since I'm anal as can be, I'm pretty sure I caught the other non-Campy item: the front brake drop-bolt is a knock-off. Oh, and the mounting nut on the back of the crown is an acorn nut, too

This thread excites me. I spent last summer riding $10 garage sale bikes with my cousins. and this summer my 15 year old sister wants to cross train on a road bike and her goal is a hilly metric by the time school's back in. Cycling with family is a joy.
For her next bike aren't there 26" or 24" wheels?
