a moment of silence for this steel steed
i was at the co-op a few days ago and found this old beauty.
. .decked out in full suntour cyclone groupo.. right down to the pedals, bb, rigida rims and cyclone hubs, 531c tubing.. campy dropouts and an omas headset, the thing must have been in a front end collision, the top tube lug has a huge dent where the lug point is, and the tube itself is ovalized where it meets the lug...

this thing was headed towards the scrapper at the coop, luckily i recognized the groupo... i promised them i would clean up the components and help them sell them off
anybody know what model of trek this was? sn:011989

There is a vintage Trek site you can find on Google and check the serial number to find out. I have one similar and mine is a 1983/4 Trek frame set model 750/760. They came as a frame and were built up with the groupo the owner wanted. (PS) I looked it up at https://www.vintage-trek.com and I believe it is a 1981 model bike. Roger

Looks like it might be one of the 700 series since it has a full Reynolds 531 frameset and campy drop outs. There were, I believe, other models with a full Reynolds frameset but this looks like a 700 series to me. Since it has drop outs, I'd guess this is a 710.

Hang it in your garage as wall art. Heck I could use it; I need an old bike to use as a display over xmas . . .
