FYI: Frame set shipping charges.
I always charge what it costs to ship from Tampa, FL to Seattle, Wa, about $50.0 If there's a significant difference, maybe I'm shipping a frame from Tampa to Orlando, I'll refund a portion of the difference.
$55.91 to ship a frame set to Oakland. 12lb 8oz 41X8X24 box.... 105" L+G 24% Ebay discount dropped the total down to $45.91
The break down:
Transportation cost: $49.52
Signature service: $2.25
Declared value fee ($475.00): $4.25
Your eBay discount (23%): -$10.11
Estimated total: $45.91
I probably used $5 in supplies so my out of pocket total is $50.91....I charged $50 for shipping.

Jim, what shipping service is that? I have found FedEx Ground to work best as they have no problem with large boxes. UPS goes to 'dimensional weight' once the L&G are at a certain, not that big, size, and the price goes up a lot.

I shipped a frame in a kid's bike box recently, did USPS shipping with signature confirmation, paid through Ebay and it was about $20.
The box turned out to be within an inch of the combined l+girth regular rate maximum, whatever that is.

Is is it the bike that's made out of heilum, or is it the box?

My question is, how does Ebay's International shipping to a central location and then shipped international work? I've tried to figure it out but is seems like there's some sort of information missing, such as the amount to foreign country. I first ship the package to Ebay's shipper, then they ship it to the destination... I would like to ship complete bikes or frames overseas, and use Ebay's International Shipping, once in the possession of the third party shipper they "Ebay" guarantee's sellers protection. Small-medium and large packages I use USPS, Bikes, wheels or larger items I use FedEx, not or never use UPS, they bill your credit card for more money.

If you purchase the shipping directly through Ebay and print out the label you get a discount on shipping of up to 23% over the cost of purchasing the shipping at the post office or a shipping outlet.

+10 As long as you can keep the box under 108 inches, USPS is the cheapest option. Cross that mark, then Fed Ex is cheaper.
On ebay discount, you receive an additional discount (25 to 30% off USPS) if you can obtain/maintain top rated seller status. I tend to have it for several months, then lose it for a few months, repeat. In my case, all it takes is for two people to ding me on detailed seller ratings, and it is gone.
Parcel Post is now "Parcel Select".
As far as UPS, let me be the first "they suck."

Parcel Post or Select is OK for certain items, if you need it insured for 'X' amount or if the buyer wants tracking and all that then FedEx is the way to go. I'll send low end frames and what not with the USPS, anything expensive goes FedEx. And the USPS has a balloon charge at 85", I tired to mail some rims to the Midwest today and they wanted $28. I was like, "WTF?" Up to 84" was $12, the extra inch was $16 so know I need to trim 1" off the box.
USPS's tracking is b.s., it's move of a 'it's been dropped off and that's it' tracking.

When shipping FED EX, leave the dimensions blank and add weight only and you will be very happy, unless shipping Boat anchors. Just my two pennies

Today via USPS:
106" box from Boston to Long Beach = $35 + insurance
108" box from Boston to Minnesota = $29 + insurance
FedEx quote for each was about $30 more. UPS was even more than that... I don't know why I even check UPS any more.

I just shipped a 63cm frame from Miami to Washington state. It was over $80.00. I really do not understand how a frame can be shipped for $25.

Very simply, the box must be under 108". At 109" you pay the 130" box price.
