Period correct FD for 78 Centurion Pro Tour w/ triple ring
Im looking for suggestions on a period correct looking front derailleur for my 1978 Centurion Pro Tour. It has a triple up front, and I have been having trouble at times getting into the large ring with the original 1st gen Suntour Cyclone. Either I dont have the right touch when it comes to adjusting (I believe it was built for just double use), or it is too worn on the inside. Either way, its becoming quite frustrating trying to coax it into gear when a nice tailwind or downhill approaches.
Any ideas or suggestions?

What crank and rings are you using?

What is your ring size progression? Half-step-and-granny and 1.5-step-and-granny work fine w/ regular road double front derailleurs. Something like 48-38-28 is better w/ a mountain front.

I've got to think it's your technique or front derailleur position. The first generation Cyclone should shift that fine.

I have the slightly-earlier one that only has a double, and I was surprised to see that they used the same Cyclone on the triple that was introduced in '78. I just couldn't sense it having the range to handle the triple.
