Does anyone remember Deore XT handlebars?
I recently came to reown an old Deore XT seatpost and it got me thinking, didn't Shimano have an XT handlebar at the same time for a year or two as well. It seems to me they had the graphics on the outside so they ran clear grips. I was kinda thinking they would be a nice find or at least something to keep an eye out for. The seatpost is a nice piece, as you would expect, shiny, black and steel, which I thought was a little odd. I would almost expect the bars to be steel as well.

Yes there where Shimano Deore XT handler bars both strait and drop not made by Shimano but labelled Doere XT but if rember right the labeling was way at the center next to the stem on the under front side.

Do you recall if they where steel?

Hmmm,
Curious to see a pic of these. I do not remember Deore XT handlebars? Not seeing it here; http://mombat.org/Shimano.htm I am curious to see what comes up. |
You can see many of the Shimano catalogs here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/...2_itemId=15553
It doesn't look like handlebars were offered. |
Yeah, I have not seen one for years, I'm glad someone else recalls them- I was going to have to start breaking the pills in half:lol:.
If anyone has one, I would love to see it as well. I've got the XT seatpost and that's almost impossible to come up with any info on, it turns out they where made for longer than I recall. Must have been a very brief foray into bars. It really doesn't look good for trying to get one on my bike huh? |

The 91 GT Karakoram elite I have has a steel seatpost on it but the clamp head is aluminium. Specs has that way as well. It's a high end model so that was the plan. Hefting it found it to be quite light weight. Nice black colour with GT stenciled on it.

I have seen lots of XT seatposts (owned a few), but never handlebars.

The seatpost is nice, it does seem light and I'm sure it's strong as horseradish. If I can find the handlebars I'll be glad if they are steel, I wouldn't necessarily feel good about using used 25+ year old aluminium bars not being their original owner.
