Well, finding a nice Cro/Mo butted mixte frame is going to take a while to find, as expected. So, in the mean time I found an almost mint Univega Gran Turismo, its pearl white and all original other than the usual tires, cables, handlebars, etc, etc.
From the date code on the SR Apex crank I think its a 1977. It rides beautiful and functions excellent in all respects. I think this bike has found a new permanent home as the wife just loves it.
A Brooks saddle and road bars have been requested .......... so be it!
Bad photos from tonight after I got home with it.

"Wife Swap - Vintage Bikes Edition." Normally, I'm not that into whole reality-TV thing. But I see this working out.
If not; I'll just keep your wife, OK?
Actually, after I showed her some nice pix of her bike I posted on the internet (the bike I bought for her two Christmases ago and she's never yet ridden) my wife said "Oh, that looks pretty nice. Maybe I'll go for a ride with you this summer." So there's hope for her, yet. Baby steps.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
I have a Puch mixte and a LeTour 'mixte' sitting in the barn and I'd love to build up either for my wife, but she thinks walking is the perfect exercise......

Your wife is asking for another bike?
Are you sure she didn't say "I'm tired, can we go home" and you just heard "I'd like a vintage mixte".
Kiss her, for all of us!

Here are some better pictures of the Mixte. I haven't done a thing to her yet, other than lower the saddle a bit for my wife, now its to low. I will say I can't stand those cheapie tires (Giant brand), I need to order a set of Pasela's.

I like the Bramwell, and so may your wife — but it's not a Mixte.

You have died and gone to heaven. Your wife looks great, and I can say that because she looks a lot like mine.

I may have missed it but what is the tubing on the Gran Turismo?
A couple of years back I found my missus an early 80's Univega Sportour mixte.
The sticker on it does indicate Champion double butted tubing.
I completely rebuilt it for her. I think the calipers and headset are
the only original parts still on it.
It could stand a repaint or powdercoat.
It now needs fresh bar tape, perhaps go to barends from stem mounts
but she seems to be liking it pretty well to the tune of around 4000 miles riding it.
Surprisingly it easily fit some 700c x 38's that actually measure 700c x 36.
Good luck on your continued quest. These vintage mixtes
have an aesthetic beauty about them that I like.

Is there anything sweeter than a woman on a bike? Especially when it's your sweetheart? I gotta get some better pictures of my wife on a bike. And if I'm sneaky, I'll get some of her calf, with a chainring print on it, which she gets on every ride.

noglider:
I can't get my wife on anything but her rusty mama-chari. I can walk faster than she rides the thing. I told I'd build her a mixte, but she promised me that she'd never ride it. (Can't get her on the Yamaha SRX either — you are lucky dudes who have sporting companions.)
Standalone — that SR is stunning!

I thought I would post an update on the wife's mixte. It wasn't but a couple days after buying the mixte that I was asked to convert it over to a road bike (lose the saddle and handlebars). I was thinking this was going to be a fun project (and it was) until my BS 500 lost its Brooks Pro. Then she found my cupboard of bike parts and confiscated my SR touring bars and a Sugino crankset (not yet installed). Anyway, the bike is coming along, I still need to put the red derailer cables and housings on and polish out the drilled Sugino crank. I bought a used Technomic stem and polished it out, I think its looking pretty sweet.
I've never played with centerpull brakes much in the past and it took an hour or so to get these dialed back in. They work great now! The repo Campy hoods fit the Royal Gran Compe levers pretty nice. I'd really like to put some bar end shifters on it, but for now she wants to use the Shimano stems .......... hey, its her bike, LOL.

I have requirements- must fit my 53cm AD superleicht, and my AD mixte.
if they cant fit the bikes, I guess I have to pass!
