Vintage Schwinn track stem...info wanted!!
I have an adjustable Schwinn track stem that I recently acquired. I havent been able to find much out about it online. I am hoping someone can give me some information about it, and how much it may be worth! There is a schwinn emblem and the engraving AS on the part that is adjustable. I cant seem to upload a picture of it for some reason but I'm willing to email pics.

Stan!!!
Based on the illustration in the Schwinn catalog, your top nut and bolt are on backwards!!!!!
Come on buddy, we need to see that "AS" from the drive side of your '38 Paramount!
To answer the OP's question, which should be in the "What's it Worth" sub-forum, those stems are very valuable and rare.

Until I can find the genuine article at a decent price, I'm content with a functional modern replica.

The early version Schwinn Paramounts (30s-50s) came with their own unique Schwinn branded parts. The stem would certainly be desirable to someone with the right Schwinn, but 400-500 sounds optimistic to me. I think I paid 85. for mine. But throw it on ebay, it will find a good price.

Ok guys here's a picture! As you can see, there is no schwinn markings on the stem itself...that's why I'm a bit confused because it seems the 4264 does. Anymore info?

Yeah, stem itself doesn't match what I've seen as Schwinn stems, but I guess there could have been different versions, or its something else...

It looks like the clamp is Schwinn, but the stem itself isn't. All of the Schwinn stems I've seen have engraved "Schwinn" in cursive and a spherical nose while yours appears to be blunt.

Unfortunately, I believe so. Most restorers are only willing to pay a premium for the real thing.
