Cool, I've never seen this one before now. Did I ever mention, I got my Bottecchia-branded Silca Impero pump mounted now? I found one of those older Campagnolo umbrella pump clips the other day, that are supposed to be pretty dangerous, if you're not careful.

That pump is one thing I don't have. I got a standard silver Silca Impero and cut it to size so that it looks correct but it doesn't have the Bottecchia lettering on it. Mine uses a Campagnolo umbrella clip too, never had any problems with it.

The one in your picture looks exactly like the bikes of that period in the catalog and available to the consumer market that I've seen. That was not the case back in the 60s when the Molteni/Bottecchia race bikes were clearly different from the ones you could buy and were produced by the Colnago shop. There is another post somewhere that names a builder from the mid to late 80s that build for Bottecchia and seemed to in charge of the high-end bikes but I don't recall if that is the same name as the one you mention. I have no definitive evidence but my impression is that at some point they started running an in-house Reparto Corse like Bianchi and producing their own high-end race bikes rather than farming them out like in the old days.

Not so:
bike photo I sent, "looks" the same, but it is part of the 12/16 bikes commissioned to Umberto Marnati for the team, which were similar, but not identical, if you look at the conjunctions will notice the shields Marnati, which did not exist on the series production

Interesting. Let us know what you find out then. I'm always interested in knowing more about the late 70s to early 80s period as there is so little information out there.

Edit: I see the Marnati shields now - I only saw the picture of the full bike the other night, not the close ups. Any idea what's on the underside of the bottom bracket?
