"Vintage" Nishiki Custom Sport?

Hey guys, first time poster - great site. currently in the market for a single speed bike and i think i found one in this Nishiki. however, i have some questions about it.

i've tried searching for Tange champion #3 but don't really get much. also, it has a decal instead of an emblem on the front fork. did they do this certain years?

there it is in full frame. any responses would be greatly appreciated

That's a Tange 5 sticker, seamless plain gauge. Basically, the bottom end of the cromoly frames. There is a long thread on Nishikis. Of course, Nishiki never made a single bike, they were a marketing company. That is neither good nor bad, a lot of brands were doing that.

+1, that's a Tange #5 decal. Some Nishiki models, depending on who built them, started use decals in place of metal headbadges, in the very late 1970s. This one appears to well into at least the mid-1980s. You should be able to determine the exact date by refering to the Nishiki Serial Number Database thread.
