Help Identifying a tange fork ?
 

does anyone know anything about this fork ? Semi sloping crown, drilled fork blade tangs, dropouts without eyelets... definitely a 'racing' fork (as opposed to Touring).

Did you obtain the fork only, or did it come off a frame? If not, I would say it's a stock aftermarket fork for replacement use based on the full chrome treatment.

I like the crown, though...

I have the same exact fork, so it has to be an aftermarket offering. I am interested in knowing its origin as well. It is very light and well made.

Same here (aftermarket). Same drop outs and markt with 6E as well.

it doesn't look exactly like any of the stock chrome-moly forks in the catalog I have seen, but the crown is similar to the C-12/1172 and the reinforcing tangs are FF4-1. I was under the impression that the numbers like "6-E" refer to steerer length.

Agreed, it's from May 1986 but like unworthy1, I'm suspicious about it being a replacement fork. During this period Tange had their own dropouts which they typically used on their replacement forks. While it may have been manufactured by Tange, the presence of Shimano dropouts would suggest that it was contract order fork.

BTW, I believe the tangs are FF4-2. The FF4-1 was longer, had straight sides and a rounded tip. This has the shorter length, subtly curved sides and chisel tip typical of the FF4-2.
