http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=321385I got a vintage mavic track hub, from what I can tell a 520 . My question, what kind of threading and how to tell? I'm guessing french . Would the lock ring be french too.I'll have a pic up in a min

I'm pretty sure it takes an Italian lockring.

I used to commute with one of these until the flanges blew up. They're beautiful but maybe a little delicate for the road.

I'm thinking a BS threaded ring would thread on but with some slop if it were French; on the contrary a French ring will thread on to a BS set of threads?

I'm also think? it would only be the Lockring threading that would be French threaded?

I believe the lockring on a track hub is reverse threaded. I doubt its French threaded.

Thanks everyone so far , this is my first track build and i have no clue on track stuff . French threaded bb and 86.5mm front hub ,aero tubing, aero forged seat post , 531 tubing. Catalog says dura ace ex cranks pedals, headset . Came with headset . Then a restore paint job . It was painted by previous owner grrr.

per vertyg on gitaneusa site
hub threading sizes
French threads 34.7mm x 1mm (1.366" x 25.4 TPI)

English threads 34.8mm x 1.058 (1.370" x 24 TPI)

Italian threads 35mm x 24 TPI (1.378" x 1.058mm)

ISO threads 34.92mm x 1.058 (1.375" x 24 TPI

French lockring size

It looks like French thread lock rings are 33mm x 1.0mm (1.299" x 0.039"). I guess that they have Left Hand threads.

thanks chas
