Identify Michael Bluth's bike!

This old thread went nowhere, so I'm turning to the ever helpful, knowledgeable, and curiously attractive (flattery will get me everywhere?) C&Vers:

What is the bike that Michael Bluth rides around on in Arrested Development?

Here's the best shot Google Images can come up with (fortunately Michael's foot is out of the way of the drivetrain!):

(the tumblr link this came from blows the image up a little more)

I know that it has stem-mounted shifters and suicide levers. From watching TV I thought that blue headbadge was an oval, but looking closely at this pic it appears to be more shield-shaped. I think I'm seeing a triple there, in the back I'm guessing 6-7 speed freewheel with a fairly wide range.

Any other thoughts?

For some reason, I thought I remember him riding a black bicycle in the episodes I saw. That and a stair-car, of course.

No, I've been watching a bunch of reruns lately in preparation for the Netflix-only series in preparation for the movie, and it's always been red. George Michael's MTB (in the pic Buster is riding it) may have some black in addition to silver/grey, but not this one.

Supposedly this was a prop from the show.

Well maybe, but that's definitely not the bike in the screenshot above; wrong headbadge, wrong pedals, no downtube decal, no seat-tube tubing decal, extra seat-tube "200" (300?) decal, and a bunch of (removable) mounted stuff is wrong: horn, light, rack, basket, front reflector.

As I said supposedly, I had no idea IDing Michaels bike would be such a pain. I used to love that show, I got errands to run but I might dig further when I get back.

I've been watchin close man, sometimes pausing the DVR an squinting, but haven't seen anything better than the image above, and most of the time the bike is in distant perspective, or only peeking into the frame. (In fact I watched that episode, but I don't remember that shot, so I may well be missing things). I have season 1 on DVD, I should play around with some freeze-frame; don't know if I can get my computer to grab a higher-resolution screenshot or video clip.

I was just thinking about this exact same thing the last few days as my wife has been watching the new episodes. The episode Charity Drive has some good shots, but it didn't help me much cause when I watched it it wasn't a very high resolution and pausing it in Hulu waa pointless.

It's definitely entry level, so it could any almost anything, including any of the numerous private label brands. The stock department probably picked-up it up at a yard sale.

Never seen the show, but I'm starting to understand the title "Arrested Development".
