Nice bike. It may just be camera distortion, but the fork looks bent, particularly in the 2nd pic...

It's a mid-1980s Benotto 800 (aka Dilettante) upgaded to Shimano New 600EX SIS. As noted, the fork is bent, though not necessarily the frame. There's a paint chip under the red tape, almost certainly from the brake caliper, and that may be what it's hiding. However, the proximity of the front wheel to the down tube does indicate that something is bent. I really hate it when owners put Columbus decals (SLX no less) on hi-tensile frames.

I agree something looks fishy on that fork. I bet the red tapes is hiding the brake scratches.
SLX decal?
Kind of a funny post though, some so so pics and no text.

Yes, use the link to go to the OP's Flickr album. There's a photo of a tubeset decal at the base of the seat tube.

Thanks for the feedback. I did not notice the bent fork until posting the pics yesterday. Hopefully this flaw is not reason enough to discontinue riding it. I'll remove the red tape and see what is underneath.
Also, it is disappointing that the frame is mislabeled.

Looks to be the same as the 800 model from the mid 80's. They came equipped with mid range suntour der. modolo speedy brakes and silstar cranks.

I like the bike and the color. It's no big deal to put on a new fork assuming the frame is solid. A chrome fork would look good on that bike. You might be able to find an inexpensive replacement fork at a bike co-op.

The OP may try to straighten that fork out. It doesn't look that bad, the bend appear to be at the blades.
It's a high tensile steel fork, so it should be more forgiving to repair.
Funny, I'm in the middle of refurbishing a similar era Benotto as I post.

Buy a nice chrome fork for it. I wouldn't repair it. Not safe usually

The red tape was covering some scratch damage from the brake caliper striking the frame.
As for the fork, this model uses a high tensile steel fork. It's more forgiving to bending, and I'd say it's safe to attempt to straighten the fork.

Not enough deformation to really wory about. There was more deformation when the blades were bent originally. Not enough work hardening to be concerned with.
I would check out where the bend is. It may be the steerer to crown interface. That could be a problem with the HS alignment.
This is a bent fork:

I don't know what you have been doing with this the last few months but I would not bother rebending/straightening the fork. Decent forks are easy to get and reasonably priced. A nice chromed fork would look super on that. You might even be able to score a used fork (although the color may not match) at a LBS. If you found a blue fork that sort of matched the decals you could add blue cable housings and dress the bike up a bit.
