The front wheel has a flat spot. Any sources for true wheels or true rims?

Your local bike shop? Amazon? A lot of 26in pop up there.

I'm going there first. Funny, they gave this bike to me. They know that there is no such thing as a free bike! I'm thinking of building the wheel myself.

How bad is the flat spot? I would be tempted to ride it if it wasn't too bad. Does the current wheel take the Schwinn specific 26 inch tire?

The Collegiate will have the weird Schwinn specific, 597mm "26 x 1-3/8." I don't think you're very likely to ever find one of these new. You may have a shot at finding a used one. Your best bet will be to also replace the tire, and go with a standard 590mm 26 x 1-3/8 wheel. You're extremely unlikely to notice the tiny size difference while riding, but you won't be able to find matching tires.
