Centurion Cinelli Equipe - maybe, maybe not
 

Some guy posted a frame on eBay a couple weeks ago, saying it was a Cinelli Supercorsa. That's one of the frames I keep my eye open for, so I took a look. It didn't look like a Supercorsa, so I sent the guy a note. (Whatever it is, it's been repainted and has no decals.) He responded asking me what I thought it might be. I looked at his images a bit and compared it with other Cinelli-esque frames I've seen. Featurewise, it seemed more like a Centurion Cinelli Equipe than anything. I told him that was my best guess. He's now listed it twice as such (in the title), though he hedges that (in the description):

Just so you know. Any other ideas what it might be?

I saw it a few weeks ago as well and thought it looked odd. By that, I fully agree that it is one of the two styles of Centurion Cinellis. Robbietunes will likely be along soon to settle the matter.

It is too bad about the repaint. The original color is far more classy, as befits a Cinelli branded bike.

What other Centurion Cinelli models are there besides the Equipe? I love the looks of the Equipe, and if fortune smiles on me, will one day own one.

I could have sworn there were two types, most easily distinguished by the seat stay attachment. Now that I look, I cannot find an example of what I had thought to be the more common style. Guess I was dreaming... :o

I'm not sure why the repaint was done, but it really doesn't matter.
It has the single loop tt cable guides consistent w/the Equipe
It has the lugs consistent w/the Equipe
It has the panto'd seat stay caps and brake bridge consistent w/the Equipe.
It has the external lugged fork consistent w/the Equipe.

As for the frame:
It could be one of the blue models that came out of the Chirico shop outside of the 75-bike production run, but I doubt it. I think it's a repainted version of one of the production runs. Perhaps the chrome was that bad, I'm not sure. The size would have it as a combination of SL and SP tubing. It's value is in what it could be if completely blasted back to metal and done over. Even if the chrome was bad, it could be pretty nice with a new paint job.

As for the fork:
I know of no external lugged Cinelli-panto'd forks outside of the Equipe, and the only blue model I've ever seen one on was afilado's. I'm guessing that it's an OEM fork with really bad chrome and it was repainted. That fork was only made by Chirico, as far as I know.

Not worth the asking price, in my opinion, because it's going to take $225-$500 to make it look good again, unless a person does it himself. As a project, it will likely reward the owner, because once done, it will ride very well.
