Another Bianchi ID thread...please

I have just obtained a Bianchi frame to build up for my wife. It is White (pearl) with matching fork, with Celeste "Bianchi" and a pink stripe thru it on the DT and the ST. It is tre-tube...produzione Columbus. "Made in Italy".

SN on BB is 3875 on drive side, and 8 E on non drive side.

Any help in model, year, components, level, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing a 90-91 frame; 8E is the color number..

I thought 8E was the date code, making this a 1988, which I think is consistent w/ the top tube mounted pump pegs and dual water bottle bosses. My first Bianchi was a 1962 model, w/ S/N 2F51703, and my current one is a 1981 (or at least circa 1981), w/ S/N 1M9914. I have never heard of the color being encoded into the S/N on any bicycle, but I am always glad to be proven wrong in the quest for truth.

Okay, my bad I missed 8E was on the BB shell; , 8E is the color code for Bianchi white pearl, but obviously it wouldn't be on the shell.

The decal style is certainly an '88/89 model. Are you sure about the tubing decal? it doesn't say formula? formula 2 or Special? What size is the BB shell? Were any parts on it when you got it?

Pretty sure about sticker. I will check in the morning and post a pic.

Only parts it had was on Ofmega headset, and Campy C record Synchro II shifters just like those that BlueDevil has for sale. He didn't have dérailleur and wanted the shifters. So I didn't get those, oh well. I am going to put my Shimano 600 Arabesque grupo on it.

BB shell is 70.

It could be a early production '88 that used a left over '87 white frame, or an '87 that had new decals applied. The Ofmega HS would point to something like a CdI.

Sorry I didn't get back to this. Bianchi girl you hit it on the head...it DOES say Formula Two on the DT sticker and Formula on the Fork sticker. Not sure if that helps with model ID or not.
