New Summer project. Teaser pics....

Let's just say it was a great buy, well actually a trade, since no money changed hands. I am completely psyched about the find, to say the least. I've always wanted something this nice, but they always slip away just before I can get the cash scratched up.,,,,BD

If you can guess it right off, let it hang a while The guessing game can be fun.

I've never seen such a nice bike brand seemingly ignored online, too? VERY little info on them, and not so much as a page on Classic Rendezvous. It's almost like they don't exist.,,,,BD

I just should have come out with it. I have a lot of questions about a possible connection to a certain builder or shop. But anyway, I will be patient. The original owner was apparently quite the avid rider. There are three riding club decals. Well, two of them are waterslide, and one is vinyl. The tubing decal is completely intact, though one edge is lifting. I caught it just in time, and I will try to get some kind of fixative on it. It needs fork decals, once I find out the era needed.,,,,BD

The best part, is that the solid green should be easily matched with a custom Testors mix. The chips on the fork crown are almost the worst of it, except where the FD and shifters mount. A test polish on the lower down tube brought out a DEEP glossy shine. The guy I bought it from had an external bottom bracket crank installed, and was thinking of building a fixie, hehe. I saved it from that fate. About to upload another teaser pic.,,,,BD

Hehehe, yep the cat is out of the bag. For the build I was thinking of robbing the Grand Record, and selling off the frame. The centerpull brakes though? I think I may need some Campy sidepulls. Maybe The Mod 77's off of the Trek 510? Now the main question I had, is the pinstriping on the seat stay cap. While looking around I noticed a Roberts frame that had the same striping. So is it safe to assume it is a Roberts built frame?
It's kind of begging for a TA crank, IMHO.,,,,BD

This is the bike I found while searching. Even the horizontal brush strokes on the design started on the left side of the cap, The same as the CR bike.,,,,BD

Waiting for the cam battery to charge a little, but the lower head lug and surrounding paint are looking WAY better! Unfortunately heavy trash (limbs and plants this month) is tomorrow. In a little while I have to go out and earn my keep for a few hours. Gonna fire up the electric chainsaw, clippers, etc. I will post the pic before I head outdoors. Yes it is WAY too muggy to work on this frame outdoors. Plus I promised the previous owner some in progress and finished pics. Unfortunately the clearcoat had to be stripped from the lugs, in order to get to the rust specks. The result though? Wow!,,,,BD

It looks even better in person too. I am going to work on this a little more, just the first results from cleaning. I have a feeling I will be quite pleased with this bike once finished. A local shop has brown Newbaums, and I have a honey Pro saddle. Gonna be a looker, hehe.,,,,BD

The weird round spot at the bottom of the lug is just a reflection. I know it looks like a chunk of missing chrome.,,,,BD

The top tube clamps are also a design I've never seen. The bolt on the bottom, and hold the cable on the left side of the top tube.,,,,BD
