Mustache bars 9.99 + free shipping
Nashbar has them on sale again, I've been using them, very nice, the accept bar ends and are pretty stiff https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...75_-1___202446

Anyone run these upside down? Looking for something like the VO porteur bars but cheaper. Thanks for the heads up, btw.

I bought a couple when they were on sale before. I like them better than the pricey Nittos. Mine have a slight blue tinge and I happened to have a stem to match.
I've seen them mounted upside down and I think they look really goofy.

They come in two widths, both are pretty wide. I thought weight wise, they are pretty light (alloy).

Flex is right, too much for my taste, that's why I started modifying the bar but I am a 225 pound Clydesdale racer... you 140 pound guys might find them ideal out on the ends.

Fresh Garbage
I bought one a few years ago to try out mustache bars. I ended up deforming the bar at the clamping area while climbing, but I am a very large man on a fixed gear.

Comfort on these comes with getting them dialed in. I ended up with my stem at saddle level giving me about a 2" drop at the ends. Flexy? I'm 230 and have them on a fixed gear, they're not as solid as drops but neither is a northroad or any other upright bar. I'm with Grand Bois, better shape than the Nitto, not much heavier and stiffer too. They're really a great deal for $10, IMO.

Mine are also a couple of years old, so they may not be the same as what they're selling now.
Moustache bars need a tall stem with short extension or you end up too stretched out like I am on the bike I posted above. They're not for everybody. People seem to love 'em or hate 'em.

I'm actually about to give the Dirt Drop/Mustache setup a try. This bar with a Kalloy Dirt Drop copy would be an inexpensive way to do it. But, I'm a really big fan of Nitto so I think I'll spend the bucks and get what I really want.

Sorry, I have to disagree with you. I love my Nitto made Albatross that Rivendell sells, they are not flexy and I've run them upright and flipped. I bought the Nashbar noodle to compare it, yes you do have a cost savings but as in most cases you get what you paid for.

Why all the Nitto photos? Here is the Nashbar $9.99 mustache bars, super heavy steel.

There's a reason people go with Nitto bars, despite the expense. They're made by some of the most obsessive-compulsive people on earth, with good aluminum. They can be used without fear, off-road or on. They fit properly, particularly with Nitto Technomic stems.
Nashbar gets props for their pricing, but the design is just meh. The flexibility some of you have reported may not be such a wonderful thing if those bars were made from mild steel.
