Tullio is unhappy with me
I took the Masi out for a spin this afternoon. It has been a while. While the Masi has been sitting idle I've been assembling a Centurion Ironman, and eventually riding a few times. So today I discovered that the Masi's FD wouldn't shift onto the small ring. The cable would go slack but the cage would move only a little. I could push it over okay, but it was sticking enough that the spring wasn't enough to move it. I think St. Tullio isn't happy that I've been working so hard on a Japanese bike with all Shimano drivetrain components.
When I got home I oiled the FD pivots and it seems happier now. A little attention goes a long way, I guess. I may also pray to my Italian ancestors (my mother's family) for a little mercy. |
When you anoint Tullio with the sacred oil. He will reward you.

Maybe Tullio doesn't like the American built cages on his derailleur. ;)

You've been very bad. I think you should transcribe the first 6 pages of Catalogue n17.

Jim,
Can we blame you then for all the rain the North East has had to endure because you forgot to pay homage to your FD? Say four Hail Tullio's and ride up "Chicken Farmer I Still Love You" Hill 10 times! http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...ckenFarmer.jpg |
Is it a Nuovo Record, Jim? If so, I think sometimes a bit of wear will cause that pin and bushing holding the cage on can start to bind up just a hair. That and, those return springs just become fatigued.

Spring fatigue? I think I have summer fatigue...just too hot for long rides! ;-) Anoint the FD with blessed oil and sin no more! (well, unless you HAVE to)
Check the cable at the RD too, I have had a single little cable strand break free and interfere with shifting, doesn't take much |
