period correct brakes
just about finished with this phillips ranger bike. i'm running the benelux derailleurs, front is the suicide shifter. but i'm not sure about the brakes. right now i just threw on an old pair of dia compe 500's. but i'm wondering what would be more correct for this. thanks

Hard to go wrong with some GB or MAFAC centerpulls.

GB's a rather good, and VERY period. Although I wasn't riding at the time, I believe that GB's glory days were back when the Benelux was still in production.
By the way, you're going to be pleasantly surprised what a nice shifting rear derailleur the Benelux is - within it's limitations, of course.

i was surprised how smooth both front and rear derailleurs are. the front suicide is very smooth. i was a little concerned because the step down on the rings are further than recommended with the shifter.
