Ashtabula Conversion Options
 

If I am converting an Ashtabula one-piece crank, if I go with the BMX conversion option: (http://www.ebay.com/itm/290853469598) is chain line adjustable at all? If not I'll go with the Trutative conversion bracket (http://www.ebay.com/itm/281100813599). I plan on converting a '73 Schwinn Super Sport to a 5 speed with a 3-piece crank.

Does look like the chainline is a bit adjustable using the BMX conversion set, cone-races can be moved a bit on the threaded axle. THe axle itself is 130mm however so should probably only be used with an old-style flat crank, modern curved arm crank would have excessive Q-factor. Also note that the BMX conversion appears to have no dirt/water seals on the bearing, grit would be free to get into the bearings.

I ordered a truvativ for my Super Sport... I have a crank-set from a Le Tour that I plan on using but am undecided on bottom-bracket.

Thanks all. I had not noticed the 130mm axle on the BMX BB, so I'll probably go with the Trutative bracket.

I have a new Truvativ still in its packaging that I never got around to using and now the bike I was going to use it on is gone. I'd gladly trade you something for it.
