Gios Torino Super Record
Gios Torino Super Record on EBay UK. A white Super Record. I have one in red. All Campagnolo first generation Super Record dated 1976including Ti pedals. It looks all original except the rear rim has been replaced with a clincher. cording to Mario Gios Super Records were
only made in blue. I've seen maybe two dozen bikes over the years in black, white, and red. Ant thoughts? Ed

Yes, that's surely a repaint job - notice how the coins in the fork crown are turned 90 degrees from their normal orientation. Should have a badge instead of a decal at the head tube, too - although I understand some European versions used decals vice badges here and there.
I thin the OP's is also a repaint. The later Gios Professional came in blue, white and red but I'm pretty sure the Super Record was exclusively cobalt blue.

Note that the Italians used either a rust-red or grey primer back in those days. Every SR I've seen with chipped paint betrays rust-red primer underneath. I note the small chip on your BB shell; what color is the primer? It's somewhat difficult to tell from the photo; heck, it may just be a reflection and not a chip at all.
Might we get a look at some other angles of your frame?

He probably did sell Professionals in those colors, but again - Super Records? In any case, $40 is a very low opening innvestment - that's a deal any way you slice it, which I'm sure you already know

I have never heard of a Red Gios SR. I use to own one until it went through a car window with me on it (A blue one). There are compact pros and later models in red or white. Still, if color matters that much to you, get it painted. Most bike from that era were purchased as frame only, so I can't understand why people always talk about original parts associated with a particular bike.

Yeah, that was fun thinking about it now. It was a Jr race back in 1984 (my first year racing). The LA Olympic year, some of the international teams like the French, Belgian, and the Chilean did the Pros 1/2 race at Manhattan Beach GP. The following weekend was another small local race nearby so everyone was super excited and strong. After the big race, the Jr. race was on. A rider and I with another in tow broke off and had half a block on the field. Nose down to the stem flying and not looking. No one gave damn about Jr. racing and allow a car to get on the course. The guy doing tempo hit thecar's front wheel squared on and I went throw the passenger window. I don't know where the guy in the back went. My Gios hit the door and I basically kept going. The driver was actually pissed and scream at us for not looking where we were going. Today would have been a different story, but not back in the days of cycling because it was a dark horse sport.
Oh, it was bye bye Gios. That was my first and only one. I loved the way it rode, it was quick and the BB was higher so we can pedal around corners. Not sure if it actually helped because we pedal around corners anyway with everything else too.
