What, no love for this thread? That is a stunner - and I won't be the only one to demand more, more, more pics
Seriously, would love to see the details. Vicini doesn't get much love since they were never really represented over here, but my oh my, that's a beautiful bike. Congratulations - it's a keeper. Amazing to see a chromovelato finish in such pristine shape, too.

Yeah, she's a beauty alright!
Where did you find her? I love the color, it's really different. Can't say I know much about the brand, but it looks nicely detailed. Is it a Columbus frame, I don't see a sticker?

You know I don't know what tubing was used, no rifling but has a 27.2 seatpost, and weighs in at 19lbs. If I had to guess I'd say Columbus SL ?

That's an almost unbelievably-impressive lack of weight for a fully-chromed Columbus-tubed bike, sewups or not. Which begs the question: are those sewups/tubulars?
Geez, my drilliumed Alpina (Columbus SL) weighs in at 20.11lbs wearing Campy Super Record (TI spindle) pedals, Super Record (TI) BB spindle and an uber-light pair of Mavic SSCs!

I picked up a virtual clone of the OP's bike last night, 59cm. It also looks quite similar to this one -e.g. internally routed rear deraiileur cable - although with Vicini pantographing.
Looking at the bottom bracket, mine only has "59" stamped NDS, and the circled MB on the drive side. No serial numbers that I could find, but it was dark. Is that "MB" a manufacturer mark? I understand that Vicini made (makes?) their own frames, so maybe that MB is a date stamp (probably a 1983 production based on date on the cranks), but it seems less likely.

I guess you guys are going to ignore me unless I post some pictures.
Here's the BB shell:

And by comparing it to the pic above from gwhunter, I am now wondering if "59" is indeed the serial number and just coincidentally about the frame size (58.5 c-t-c). I measure c-t-t to be 60cm, which I think was the standard metric.
Thoughts?
I'll add just a few of other photos to complement those above.
What's left of the tubing sticker:

Strange mount for DT shifters, allowing internally routed cabling in down tube:

And yes, that is a Benotto fork rather than a Vicini. My first (and second) reaction is that the bike was once in a front end collision, so I put a straight edge on the top and down tubes and they check out straight. No signs of ripples in the metal or the tinted clearcoat. I got it from the original owner, who said it was never crashed. Dunno.
Machined slots in the rear dropouts:

Sticker remnant on the chainstains:

It looks like is says Tour de ???? and I'm wondering if that is the model name. Or the sticker may have not been original to the bike.
Edited to add: In the daylight it clearly says Tour de France. There's a Vicini bike on eBay with a "Tour de France 1978" sticker on the chainstay, so this must have been some sort of marketing thing for Vicini. Couldn't find much info otherwise.
I just gave the bike a quick wipe down before taking these pics. I'm waiting until I can get it in sunlight for full bike shots, and a real test ride.

Is it permitted to ask for the stories on these frames/bikes? gwhunter & CO_Hoya?
Especially info about 1st owner, as well as the bike itself.
Classic elegance.
Insomnia is sometimes curable.

Original owner was a (pro?) triathlete from Phoenix, the bike was built for him by a bike shop owner named "Steve" (perhaps from Landis Cyclery? he seemed to assume I'd heard of the bike shop) for training rides. He had this bike and a couple of Benottos hanging from a coat rack in his garage.
Bike is full Campy SR, as far as I can tell. Looks all original, not much service done to it - he said he wasn't mechanically inclined. A little bit of wear and tear, but not too bad for a 30+ year old bike.
I picked up the bike to flip it - part out the SR at least -as it's way too nice for my sorry butt. I've got a compromised Gios frame that needs replacing, so I could move this frame under those components easily enough if I decide it fits. The mismatched fork makes the frameset less valuable and I'm not going to sell a frame or bike if I think it may have been crashed. If I ever get to see the thing in the light of day I'll assess it further.
Bike is definitely an n+1 for me, but I just happened to have an extra hook in the shed . . .

One last post, as I finally got it outside in daylight for a couple more pics.

As received, just gave it a wipe, removed the pedals and swapped out the saddle.
Hopefully I'll have time for a proper test ride tomorrow, but with a quick fitting that seat post looks kinda long to me. The good news is that it tracks dead straight when I ride hands-free, so I'm more optimistic that the frame is uncrashed. Also note the missing tinted clearcoat where the front brake caliper hits the down tube.

The cable routing into the down tube has me concerned. I was hoping to move over an Ultegra STI drivetrain, but I'm not sure if I can make the DT mounts work with this routing. And those brazed-on shifter stops may also cause problems.

The FD cable emerges from the seat tube very close to the derailleur itself. No idea if that sort of routing would be compatible with an indexed system.
