VeloCals experience?
Well, cleaned out the garage and almost sold my 1978 Fuji S10-S. But then I got nostalgic about it and decided to keep it another year and re-evaluate the selling thing later.
I have repainted it a few times, the last time was about 20 years ago. It is currently a matte black color and I don't feel like painting it again, but it would be nice to get the decals back on it. So, today I found the VeloCals site. http://www.velocals.com/servlet/the-...S-decal/Detail Does anybody have experience with these? I'm not clear coating over the decals, so I'm thinking I should get the UV-coated high gloss. Does anybody know what they look like on the bike. It's pretty expensive to make a mistake. I was wondering if the thinner 1-mil would be a better option. Any opinions? |
Velo-Cals has always been good to me.

Right on quality work. Their line of Fuji decals is unmatched.

Same here. JR is a good guy. Trek decals are excellent, too. Highly recommended.

Awesome experience on my part.

Another thumbs up for JR. My only sadness is that he no longer sells Schwinn decals for the late 80's frames.
i suspect The Decal Police. |
I think my vote is on the home page there.....

JR gets a big thumbs up from me!

I wish he did custom work.

I also have personally had good experience with him, (but there sure have been some loud complaints, not from me, in the past) |
Fantastic products, JR and Christine are the best.

And a +1 from me; JR & Christine great to work with.
I'm currently having an old Panasonic frame updated by one of our local builders; when the brazing & paint are finished, I'm most definitely contacting JR for the decals. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=339979 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=339980 |
His decals are very good. His service sometimes isn't. You may hear from him right away or it may take months.
|
You guys are fast! Thanks for all the comments. And if I don't hear from him right away, I won't stress about it. ;)

Thumbs up from me. I've noticed he no longer sells Reynolds tubing decals. Anyone know where those can be sourced other than ebay?
|
I think if by "eBay" you mean Greg Softley in Australia, he may be selling off his remaining stock and also getting out of the Reynolds market...cause H.Lloyds has signed an agreement to be the sole provider of replacement Reynolds decals (transfers in British). I assume Nick is sending out cease-n-desist letters to all the usual suspects.
But, Nick at H.Lloyds should have whatever you need: http://www.hlloydcycles.com/page5.htm |
^ That's too bad because at least for the ones I needed, either Greg's (or JR's, can't remember which) were more accurate than the ones I got from Nick at hlloyd.
|
Thanks for the info.A shame JR can't sell them anymore. It was pretty convenient getting all the frame decals in one package.
|
I've had very good experiences with some Reynolds stickers and a Trek set. Thumbs up!
|
i bought a downtube trek decal, prices are a little high , but the product is top end.. .can't beat it.. i had to wait 6 weeks for my decal, and maybe complain a little...

1 set of Cinelli Centurion Equipe repro decals.
2 sets of Ironman decals. 1 set of Centurion Turbo decals. 2 sets of RobbieTunes Decals. Some Tange, some Columbus. I've no problems to date. Calling him used to be the best contact method, but emailing works now. |

^ It would have been the 531D52-73 and 531H48-73. Something about the fork decals that I got from him wasn't right (can't remember whether his said "forks" or "fork blades"), and I thought the main Reynolds decals I got from JR (I think, can't recall and could not find any traceable purchase, but pretty sure it was on ebay) had better color and registration.
EDIT: actually it was Greg (gts753 on ebay). Reynolds 531 1960s Decals + FREE vintage Campagnolo EDIT2: And not that the hlloyd ones were bad, just the others were better. Nick did do up some RRA decals for my Raleigh as part of the same order, but the RRA is the same letter set as the Raleigh decal, so he just used individual letter. Perfect match though (and I now doubt I will ever use them as it is unlikely I will ever get this repainted). Carlton decal was perfect as well. |
