Right, so attitude from you, too--thanks, but again, no need for it. So you'd suggest the same bar for a 1960 Carlton as you would for a 1982 Cinelli, then?

guys, you know..the OP did start a whole other thread regarding a new bike project. Wild guess, but maybe that's the bike these bars are intended for?

Is there a bar nearby? Let's go.

Best response in this thread by far.

Oh yeah like someone actually has only one project! ;)

Tell me about it. This thread is making me want a drink. Rye anyone?

(Note: 259g for Modolo Professional anatomic design. I zero'd out the scale before adding the bar.)

Thought I'd wait to reply... If all else fails the Nitto 176 bar is a nice classic. Not vintage correct, but it is a nice bar, feels great, stiff enough & has nice vintage styling. Weight? Should be listed. I go for feel more than weight, when it comes to bars

Chombi 09-24-13 04:32 PM

IIRC, some of the lightest bars I've encountered were ones made by the French. I think the Philippe bars as provided on 80's Peugeots were very light, but they do tend to be smaller diameter, I still remember how they plastic bar end plugs that came with bike ribbon tapes did not fit very well on the ends.... the plastic prongs usually end up breaking when you pound them into the bar ends

I have a set of 44cm Cinetica bars that weigh +/- 320 grams. Is that lightweight?

Yes, Willett please.

--didn't see the Bulleitt 95 Rye pic from my work computer, an able elixir for sure!

Around 335g according to Ben's Cycle. I was going to suggest some of the offerings from them or some of the other brands.

3ttt competizione superleggero works too.

I'm pretty sure I have that Prima, if it's a powder-coated black, with white lettering. :) I also have a pretty old chrome-looking, but definitely alloy, 3TTT shallow-drop bar, that needs a bigger diameter stem than most. Probably that odd Cinelli one, but I haven't really looked yet. If I'm ever going to make myself use a drop bar, that shallow one should be a good one to learn on. I think (?). ;)

+1, the Nitto 176 "Dream" Bar has a great feel (though advertised weight is 340g - beyond OP's goal). Nice, confortable ramps and not too deep of a drop. Still a great bar, but I'm guessing not quite racy enough for the OP in this case. I chose to use them on my former race bike nonetheless.

Sorry, Campy12, these 3ttt Superlegerro bars aren't for sale.

:p ;)

Blue Belly 09-25-13 04:09 AM

Yup, have them on 3 bikes. They feel right & react the way they should when you need them for leverage. I have a pair of FSA classic on my cross bike. Decent bar. Black, though...

Campy12 09-25-13 05:13 AM

Actually I already have some for my project I was just interested to know if any other companies tried to rival 3ttt with light bars.
