Grip question.
I have found the grips here, https://threespeedhub.com/product-cat...are-and-grips/ as a possible replacement for my Rudge.
There is a catalog for 1954 Raleigh with the grips pictured here on page 8, https://threespeedhub.com/wp-content/...og-1954-US.pdf The grips look pretty close considering the picture is a pencil illustration.
I did find grips at Memory Lane Classics that are original mold redos. They look more like the standard American grips.
Which would you use to replace the trashed grips?

Saddle is slowly coming back. Have traded off using Kiwi Mink Oil, Profide and Griot's Leather Rejuvenator. Has been almost two weeks of daily applications of one of the three product. Will go a couple more days of this. Then I may try leather dye. Have spoken to my local shoe repair shop, that is what he suggested.

Inspected work done to saddle by local shoe repair, looks fantastic!

Really nice bike. It deserves (and needs) a full nut, bolt and ball bearing refurb. That paint will shine up beautifully with some elbow grease and some Scratch-X. Degrease all the chrome and other steel bits and then drop them in a covered can of Evaporust. Keep it in a warm spot overnight and you will be amazed how they look like new. When it's all done it will be ready for another 60 years.

Not sure if I picked correct brown. Saddle condition was so bad I was not sure if she was dark or honey brown.
Very pleased with the result of a very excellent shoe repair shop in Columbus, Ohio. Best Shoe Repair, 6100 Boardwalk St. 43229 614-825-0512. The owner, Darrell was the only one to give me any hope of arresting the condition of this saddle. Three other shoe repair-leather experts said the saddle was not worth working on and wanted nothing to do with her.
He was able to seal the areas that were cracked and refinished the saddle. Saddle still has plenty of character and should provide many more years of service.
Now if I could just get my son to get some of his crap out of my basement, I could start seriously working on her!

I've had a couple of spectacular successes reviving seemingly-dead saddles by soaking them in a ziploc bag of Lexol leather conditioner (it's a sort of milky water-based emulsion) overnight and wiping them dry.

Update on 1951 Rudge Sports 3 Speed, AKA Morley...
After two years, mostly procrastinating, Morley is ready for the road! As you can see original owner etched his name quite deeply in the one pic, plus a couple other locations.
Mostly original. Obviously new tubes & tires, originals had to be cut off from the wheels. New re-pop grips in the original style, thank you Taiwan Trading Co. One new cotter key for the crank, machined down to fit correctly. New brake pads, safety first! A re-died original Brooks saddle, not sure if the color is correct from new. Few miscellaneous nuts & bolts. Frame pump seems to work. I do need to locate the insert in the nipple end of the hose that allows the air into the tube.
Most work was done by yours truly. With hub, BB, headset cleaning & re-packing left to my LBS good guy Mason of Westerville Bike Shop. Shameless local business plug intended. And I just don't have the correct spanners to do this work yet.
Paint was brought back to life with Meguiers's Pro Line auto paint products. Chrome was basic elbow grease, chrome polish, SS pads and brass brushes. All else was scrubbed clean of 30+ years of oily dust. There has been no paint touch up or anything else. Rust and corrosion will be held in check.
Bike has been ridden several times. I have no reference for what she should ride like, but she is a hoot to be on. Needs some fine tuning for the 3 speed shifting. Rear brake cable is stretched beyond use, but I have a hack in place with a fix ready.
Much to my surprise the dynometer lights work! Bulbs look to be original. I did find a replacement lens for the rear light at Memory Lane in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Original lens was bleached a pale pinkish-yellow.
If there is any advice on placement of clamps etc., I welcome the feedback.

Proofhide, Mink oil and elbow grease.
Was able to get the leather to absorb a lot of the above. Finally took the saddle to a shoe repair guy with tons of experience, and he was able to re-dye the seat.
There are still plenty of cracks visible. The seat does look much better than before.
