I thought you were fixing it for friend, based on you post. If selling, I would definitelt take that disc off. It detracts from the overall look. It clashes w/ the drillium crank. Cranks says "Nice bike, for serious cycist". Dork disc says: "Lower end bike for novice rider". YMMv.

The swaged crank does not say that to me in spite of the holes.
It's a low end bike nicely cleaned up and ready to ride. Just the type of bike that would appeal to a novice rider. He can offer to remove the dork dish if it offends a potential buyer.

He didn't say he was fixing it for a friend. His friend let him take it to refurbish.

Thank you for the feedback. My friend purchased a couple new bicycles and said I could have this one. I told him I would refurbish, let him know the cost and we could take anything left over and split it. It gave me a project, put another bike on the road and worked out for both of us. The photos revealed a few details that I went back and re-touched like the rust on the brake release, handlebar position, touched up some of the taping of the bar itself and some of the dirt on the crank.
I'm having a hard time removing the freewheel to get at the dork disc...it is a Shimano DA freewheel...I don't see anywhere to put my removal tool as it doesn't fit in, only 2 holes opposite each other on the outer ring that I tried without success to unscrew using my pin tool. Anyone have a schematic or instructions for me?

Just leave the disc. I doubt the person that buys the bike will take off points. Looks great. Good luck with the sale.

This is another Magnum I had picked up some time ago and there are some posts on here about it. I did like the black, gold and silver but not my size (~59cm).
I will be taking the new one out for a proper photoshoot in the coming days.
