Sadly we in N. America only received Olmos for a short period of time which really stunts the knowledge base for these fine bicycles. I can say it's probably older than my son's '84 from the cable guides and possibly a mid range model as it's missing some detail on the brake bridge.

I don't see anything on the frame that indicates it is an Olmo. What am I not seeing in these photos?

My guess is a late 70's frame. It's definitely an Olmo front fork. I'll stick my neck right out and GUESS a '77 Olmo Competition.

It looks pretty sweet from here. :thumb: If that's a mid-range bike, I'd like to see a higher-end model. I noticed the rear dropouts weren't chromed, but it still looks pretty good, otherwise. :)

Some of the Olmos that made it to the US had straight gauge chrome moly tubing. I remember that much although I don't know if Columbus offered straight gauge tubing sets or not. I'll bet those were stiff.

When I bought the frame it was fit whit colnago decals by the previous owner (don't ask why...)
Looking at the "state" off the paint, the red colour looks original to me... but after removing the black paint I found it was painted yellow.
Otherwise I'm not sure the paint on the rear dropouts is original. (see pictures)
To bad they also removed the olmo name and star on the fork, don't know how to restore it... (idea's??)

That's a shame, about the star & name. :( I have an old French-made Bertin, with very similar lug cutouts, and it's missing many of the original stickers. Some were replaced with cheap stencils, & some bad logo painting occurred, LOL, but I sanded that off. Overall, it still looks great, like it was "well loved" over the years, with some history. ;)

Depending on how much the frame means to you/value, you might consider a sanding/priming/repaint.

Indeed, the decals are not that hard to find. And a respray is needed to restore the frame. But the cuts in the fork (who are removed, in order to look like a colnago???) is a problem to restore...

Yellow seems to have been the accent color of choice, lugs, forks and etc. Barely visible is the lug's accent.
