Bottom bracket for '79 or '80 Motobecane Grand Jubile

I need a bottom bracket for a '79 or '80 Grand Jubile. It's 127 mm, with a 5-mm offset, and English threading (and Takagi crank arms, if it matters).

The only replacement I can find is a Phil Wood, which is $$. Velo Orange sells them, too, but with no offset, and I don't think it's feasible to stack two of their spacers, as I think there won't be enough threading.

Is there another source besides Velo Orange that sells reasonably priced bottom brackets, but with offset?

And, assuming that my only choice is a Phil Wood bracket, I was told that I can buy a symmetrical bracket (say, 130 mm - they don't appear to have 132 mm), install it, and safely whack it with a rubber mallet to get the offset (presumably the spindle is press-fit into the bearings). True? (If so, can I safely assume that basically any BB w/sealed bearings can be similarly modified?)

Thanks!

...actually, you can get some side to side with a Phil Wood BB just by adjusting where
it sits in the shell using the cups it comes with...I don't think you'll have to whack it
because I think you can get 4-5mm at least. Check their site.

I think I'd be tempted to just go a little longer on the spindle and have the non drive arm stick
out a little more from the shell. Used to be you could buy a cheaper Shimano cartridge unit
and install it with cups that have no shoulders and get the same side to side adjustment, but I
don't think you can get anything like that any more new.
