Question about wrapping bars
 

I am puttin my schwinn continental back together atm and i am going to wrap the bars. i have seen bar wrapping videos on youtube and i get the general idea. but the videos ive seen the bikes only have the one set of brakes. my bike has the ones on the curve of the drops and some levers on the flat of the bars. does it change how i wrap them at all? as i have no idea the lingo of the cycling world (im learning somewhat xD) to explain i have attempted to attach a photo i found on the internet. its not mine as i did not take a picture of mine and its not at my house currently http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=352677

If the bike on the pic depicts what is happening on your own bike accurately, what you have in addition to the regular brake levers at the bends of the bar is what was called by the industry as "Safety brake levers", but most here call them "Turkey leg levers" because of their not so good braking performance.
No, the safety brake levers should not affect the way you wrap the bars as they come off directly from the brake lever bodies of the regular brake levers, lower down on the bar's bends. The safety levers are not clamped on the bars independently, as they share the same bar clamps as the regular levers..... Now if you happen to have what are called interceptor levers that clamp near the stem area of the bars, then you do have to account for them when wrapping the bars, but they are so small anyway and it should be easy enough to figure out how to wrap the bar tapes past their clamps.

What i've stated doing is removing the brake levers and just leaving the mounting bracket on the bars.
It is easier to wrap and then afterwards you just mount the brake levers back on to their brackets and everything is tidy.

The turkey levers just make it more of a PITA to wrap the tops of the bars. Just take your time and don't get caught up in trying to keep the roll of tape together. Thread it around the obstacles carefully. There are good vids on youtube, find the ones that have you start by putting a short piece around the back of the brake levers, then start the wrap from the ends, wrapping to the outside, around the levers, and toward the stem. I don't do the extra wrap over the lever bodies, some do. Unlike Daveyates I avoid wrapping before the brake levers are installed as it damages the tape (I use a kind that can be reused and don't want to nick it) and it makes rewrapping harder....but it does make wrapping easier. Pick your poison, either is OK.

...or remove the Turkey Levers, wrap, discard the levers unless you think they work well.
