it was the only color i had.....
this is a nishiki that was found in a creek about a year ago. forks were trashed and tons of rust. i had a little bit of metallic blue and a little red. mixed them together and got this. i'm not a big fan of purple but i didn't want to spend any money on this build.

White and gold box lining would look good....
Nice job Shawn, wouldn't expect anything less than paint perfection from you!
Thank you! Believe it or not, I painted and cleared this outside today in 28 degree weather. I didn't feel like clearing the shop to paint indoors.
What kind of shifter do you have on that ? Looks like a Suntour city/mtb item.
Half of a suntour stem shifter. I welded the post on the downtube.
Spray paint?
Well, I at least love the color! |
Purple bikes are cool. Nice work! And you did a really good thing, sloar, saving this little jewel from a terrible fate in that creek.

Well, I at least love the color! I hope your not referring to rattle cans. This wasn't done with rattle can paint. |
Not bad for a "creek find". I actually like the color, but then I've like purple since my soap box derby days. Nice job, especially in the cold.

Growing up I knew I guy who'd spray ends of cans into a jar and paint things with it with a brush. Had good results so I know it can be done. |
Looks great, thats a cool color
I think it's a great color for a full fendered bike, looks a bit like early 1970's Mopar "Plum Crazy". Well done. :thumb:
Autozone paint again? Really nice job, and for that bike, understandable to use what you have (well, within reason :) ). The purple you came up with looks good, and amazing you can do this in those temps!

That paint job is just great better than most pro shops. Question the single DT braze on for the shifter did you add it or was it there the level of work looks well beyond this bike.
I added the shifter, and thank you!
I love it! that is a great color can't wait to see all ready to ride.

My wife has an old MTB that we call the Purple Nurple. This one is Nurpler.

Whew. Thought for a moment there the Guerciotti was going to be the subject of the post. :)
