Keeper of all things SEKINE?
A few days ago a good friend dropped in from up north with some parts for my Sekine project and some other miscellaneous bike related tools and hardware.
Among the stuff was a packet of about twenty 35mm slides taken at the Sekine factory in Manitoba during the seventies when my friend was a sales distributor type. I don't have any equipment to scan them, but they show production and painting etc.
If someone wants custody and has a website to make them available, I would gladly donate them.

I would love them, but I don't have the computer skills to share.
I'm sure the author of The Sekine Project would use them.

If the Sekine Project doesn't want them I will take them, get them scanned, and make the images available to anyone that want's them. Free of course. Some one might want the slides themselves so once I have images I don't need the slides. I have a SmugMug account where the images will be displayed and made available.
My bike, given to me by my parents when I was young, is a '75 Canadian built... MHS? I think. I still have my original Brainerd, MN 1975 bike registration sticker on it. Woohoo!

I would love to get those slides, process them and then place them, with text, on my website that devotes a lot of time to Sekine bicycles...

Perfect. Looks like a great home for the slides. I'm anxious to see them when posted. Please let us know.

What better place to post this - a 1950s Sekine, made in Japan. I like that it has Sekine, or the Sekine logo, stamped on every single part and fastener on the bike:

The weather in Port Dover was great today, a balmy 4C (40F) so off to Canada Post on my 93 Raleigh Portage to send the Sekine factory slides to Randy.
I've only seen them held up to window so I'm looking forward to seeing them full screen as well. The nice lady at the post office pointed out that it was cheaper to send them as a trackable parcel rather than regular post as I had planned. Go figure.

Though I have been told, by Bike Forums management, to stop posting on the website, I felt that this thread required closure, on my part.
I received the slides from the OP and have made arrangements to have them processed. Once processed, I will post them with comments on my website. Thanks very much to the OP for his generosity, and he will be given credit for his offering to the vintage bicycle community.
And farewell to the many friends I have made through the Classic and Vintage Forum.

As far as I know Randy received the slides, but at last check, they were not posted. I know Randy has had lots of changes in the last year or so maybe he can let all us Sekine fans know whats happening.
Are you still out there @randyjawa ?

I have sent Randy an email asking what his plans are for the slides, and offering my assistance.
Likewise, if anyone out there has any Sekine memorabilia they want published online, feel free to email me (rodoftheflies @ yahoo.ca). I'm not usually on Bikeforums, but I check my email once a week.

The slides are in the works, at last, and the digital files will be posted on Bike Forums in a week or two. A fellow member is helping me with this thanks to a truly busted computer. Sorry this has taken so long and I am to blame for the untimely effort. But I will keep on top of this now that I have found a way to make it happen.

Hi All,
I'm helping Randy post some of the slide images. I'll post them as often as possible. I haven't really posted much before so if I screw up the picture uploads, I'll figure it out and redo it.
Not the most exciting shots but interesting none the less. These are from 1978....

My first 10 speed was a used and rusty POS brown sekine medaille. Dented steel rim, stem shifter, 21" frame (I ride a 23.5"). Maybe one of those brown frames was mine.

Thank you for the advanced peek at some of the slides. Back aways, I thought this would be pretty cool for anyone who owned one to see behind the scenes. Great for general interest as well.
I was right! Few days ago I acquired a 73 SHS model and enjoying the work on it. Still a bare frame while it gets cleaned and treated before the build up.
I look forward to having this slide show to fill in the Sekine story. Cool bike. Seems some people lately have problems with being Canadian but I think they're fine by me!
